The Shell Resort & Spa Phu Quoc did not live up to its 5-star rating during my stay. Even with a premium ocean-view room booked months ahead and also arranged an airport pickup, so the resort knew exactly when we would arrive and should have had the room prepared. The room was not properly cleaned or maintained—hair everywhere, stained outdoor furniture, a cracked tub, and outdated interiors. It took far too long to reach a manager, and when I finally did. The manager on duty mentioned that all ocean-view rooms had similar wear and tear. He offered me a villa room—which was actually cheaper than what I had originally paid—and two spa vouchers. If the resort is aging, it should adjust its star rating or renovate to match the standards of a true 5-star property. Quite a good bungalow, large, spacious. Of the minuses I will note the already quite outdated equipment and furniture. The jacuzzi is too old and does not heat the water, so there is no need to use it. The housing needs repairs, as there are many cracks where insects crawl. Overall, a good bungalow, the resort has a large stunning pool with a view of the sea.

The serenity and casual back to nature environment allows you to just relax and enjoy the views and peacefully within.

The room was clean and tidy, but the flooring looked old and had stain marks. The handheld shower was not working properly. If you are a solo traveller, the staff are generally not attentive, especially at the breakfast restaurant. The gym equipment was also not clean.

Beautiful colonial style hotel and grounds. Staff first class. Lots of loungers on beach. Very good massage at spa on site. Very little reason to venture elsewhere on the island.

We had a nice short stay here. SOL has everything so we didnt need to leave. Breakfast buffet was the highlight of our stay. Easy access to the beach.
