The hotel is with a long history but the room is luxurious, spacious and clean! Redwood Room Bar is definitely worth a visit, superb atmosphere!

Tried really hard to love this place - fabulous lobby, staircase and lounge. Our room while large lacked natural light - partially due to tree outside but also a window that probably hadn’t been cleaned externally in years. Bar/bistro not open early afternoon and closed at 9 pm. Given that the surrounding area isn’t great to wander round this wasn’t good.

The location was extremely convenient to the Yosemite South Entrance. We went the first week in May and the fireplace in our room took away the chill. We loved the facility and would definitely return.

Not all areas of the hotel are upgraded.

The building itself is truly impressive, with a sense of history and grandeur that makes a strong first impression. The location is also excellent, very convenient for exploring San Francisco. That said, some areas of the hotel feel dated. The hallways in particular look old and have a harsh white lighting that feels more like a hospital than a luxury property. The rooms have high ceilings and a good size, which is a plus, but the bathrooms are relatively small. The white lighting in the rooms also creates a very cold ambiance, which takes away from the overall comfort. In general, much of the furniture throughout the hotel could benefit from a renovation. Overall, it’s a beautiful historic property in a great location. With some thoughtful modernization that respects and blends with the hotel’s classic character, it could truly be exceptional.

Parking was convenient and staff was nice. Room was very dated. Had to ask for towels as there were none in the room and one of the beds only had one pillow. If you need very basic accommodations this hotel sufices.
