We enjoyed our stay and they allowed us to bring our bikes inside overnight. Easy walk into town, our room was sold as a lake view, but it was more of a tributary than the lake itself.

Pros: The property is close to the parking lot and to the bus station. It’s dated but they have done renovations. The room is clean and spacious. There’s free breakfast. Cons: The bathroom is quite big but no place to hang clothes and towels and no hand soap.

Although the hotel is a bit old, it has everything you need. Walking trails are right outside the door. The included breakfast is average. Tip: Ask for tourist tickets to get a discount.

One night two days in Sun Moon Lake

Location of the hotel is good, close to a shopping center with restaurants. Checkin was a bit challenging. I was driving an 8-passenger van and drove through a very narrow road to reach to the hotel. It turned out that I was supposed to park the car at a parking lot, then walk a very short distance to check in. The road was so narrow that I couldn’t even make a U-turn. Hotel was quite old and basically had an owner/manager and one worker. Bath towels and toilet paper were missing from our room. Breakfast was a pre-packaged box with a sandwich, egg, tarot and one piece of orange. Coffee, soy milk, toast and miso soup was also available.

Pictures of rooms looked attractive on website, but make sure to book a lake-view room or what the hotel calls a VIP room otherwise the cheaper rooms are facing the hill side which is really disappointing. Rooms are spacious and staff are super friendly which covers the inconvenience of the location. Early morning walk along the lake is refreshing and strongly recommended.
