"This was one of THE best experiences I have ever had in all of my travels, including the two weeks in Japan. I struggled to decide which temple lodging to choose in Koyasan, and I am so glad I went with Joki-in. The check-in experience was wonderful, welcoming and helpful staff. They tour you through the entire property and help you adjust to temple life. "One of the most unique properties we have ever stayed at. The room is a combination of old and new done exceedingly well. The property manager is outstanding. "

"Excellent onsen hotel right at the end of the first day of the Kohechi Kumano Kodo pilgrimage trail. I came for the onsen and mountain seclusion, but they had such good maps of the Kohechi at the front desk that I decided to walk back to Koyasan the day I checked out. It’s about 20km through the mountains from Nosegawa Onsen to Koyasan, walking on a mix of well-kept trails and paved roads; overall, a moderately difficult hike with very good signage.
I highly recommend Kohechi hikers to stay at this hotel."
"An exceptional and unforgettable experience. We learned meditation techniques and took part in the goma ritual, which was truly incredible. The shukubo is very clean and well maintained. There’s no AC or private restroom since the original structure is preserved, but that adds to the authenticity of the traditional Japanese stay. Highly recommended!"
