"I spent a lot of time in the mid / late 90s, traversing the state of Kentucky with my father for various conventions, and was lucky enough to be able to spend a lot of that time with my father in the once grand convention center style hotels. The Executive Inn in Owensboro, Paducah and Louisville; the DrawBridge Inn in Covington, the Embassy Suites in Lexington - and the "Carriage House Hotel" in Paintsville. 25+ years later, I find myself back in the former Carriage House. Not because of my Dad's conventions, but because of all random things - my teenage son having to travel to take his ACT. When he was scheduled for Paintsville, I was surprised; the opportunity to relive a generational hotel experience from my past with my own son was too cool to pass up. This hotel hasn't changed - in all of the right ways. The architecture is still there; French Quarter style storefronts occupied by relevant local businesses, yet not off-putting. The atrium is still peaceful to overlook, the seating areas are clean and comfortable. The rooms, freshly redone, are excellent - spotless and comfortable. This grand old hotel is quiet - surprisingly so. It FEELS like a resort, and quite out of place in Eastern Kentucky. I will be back, often, not just for the nostalgia but for the modernized comfort and peacefulness. Also - STEPH at the front desk is a level above. She went so far out of her way to ensure out stay was perfect - even helping us find a calculator my son forgot for his ACT use!"
