two issues : unique in China
1. the check-in counter does not have enough small changes,
2. hotel staff have a hard time to call me a taxi.
it seems that everything is done through cell phone, but as a foreign tourist I don't have access to local cellphone services.
I have to change money to pay for local expenses.

Conveniently located in a central area of Hankou (Xianggang Road), this is a nicely designed hotel, but it's seen better days. Don't get me wrong, it's still a good place to stay, but some work has to be done on cleanliness and style. I wouldn't say it lives up to the Shangri-La name.

The Shangri-La was undergoing renovation work at the time of my visit, but work was mainly centred on the entrance and reception areas. My first impression was that there were very few staff with good English proficiency, although this wasn’t too much of an issue. My room was spacious and had everything a business traveller would need. The hotel seemed a little limited for restaurants with the one I used (Asian) in urgent need of an upgrade. WiFi connectivity was pretty good and reasonably fast. The room I was allocated gave me access to the Horizon Club lounge, which was useful for a fast and convenient breakfast and check out, complementary meeting space if required and business centre facilities.

Booked this hotel for the higher rating. But hotel was dirty, old, worn out , whatever you want to call it. Area, wasn't really close to anything or tourist ares. In the growing world of tourism, staff would run/hide if asked a english question. I picked this hotel hoping that english would be accepted , but I couldn't find that.
The hotel lobby was beautiful and welcoming. The staff were friendly and the woman who checked me in spoke good English. They were able to accommodate currency exchange at the front desk for s nominal charge. The property was within a block of a subway station which made traversing the City very easy. Many restaurants were available in the hotel, but I only had a chance to eat in the 20th floor Horizon Club Lounge. I was upgraded to the Horizon Club floor for a nominal fee upon check in. The food was good, and staff friendly. My only real criticism is that the 20th floor had signs everywhere stating that the floor was a non-smoking floor. My room even had a posted notice stating the room as being non-smoking. However, the room had a strong smoke odour. This wasn't a huge problem for me as I was only present for 3 nights. But I did note this issue upon check out. Other than that, the stay was pleasant. House keeping was diligent in ensuring a comfortable stay. The room was comfortable and well appointed. I spelt well and did not notice any noise, even though the site was under construction at the time of my visit.
The Wuhan Shangri La, lived up to expectations and as with most Shangri Las it provides a great overall experience. The staff are professional and friendly and aim to please without being overbearing.
The only minus during this one night stay was the sound between adjacent rooms where one could hear the couple next door - clearly they were have a great time but it should be private and not heard in my room.
The hotel is reasonably well located and is not far from the subway station as well as being near various shops etc. The beds are nice and firm and very comfortable. Overall a great one night stay and would consider staying here next time. Thank you.
Everything about this hotel was wonderful. We were able to check in early at 10:00 am and the staff was very accommodating. Beautiful room and very comfortable. The concierge was very help in providing directions to the area and shopping places.
Very comfy bed. WiFi quite good. Reception team speaks good English. Breakfast not good, neither I or my Chinese colleagues found anything that tasted good. Good for Wuhan vs other hotels but grab breakfast at the Starbucks.
Stayed three nights. Usual high Shangri-la standard. A special feature of this hotel is that it is located right at Hong Kong Road Metro station (Exit A) which is an interchange of Metro lines 3, 6 and 7. The Metro is very easy to use and gives access to many places in Wuhan. Alternatively, taxi from the airport is about 80 yuan.
The outside of the hotel is a little dated, but the inside is beautiful and exactly what you would expect from a Shanghai-La. The staff were very helpful, friendly and efficient.
Hotel is great but the cleaning lady could vacuum the room cleaner. We found the floor besides the bed with the large pieces left on the floor 2 days after staying. Everything else was great.
A great hotel with very good staff. The hotel is rather old but well maintained. The staff at the concierge was very friendly and helpful. They go all the way out to solve my problems, such as getting a bus to Jingdezhen , and finding the nearest bank. The staff at Shang Palace were also very
nice and attentive. This is a relatively cheap shangrila hotel but live up to the expectation. The only problem is that it is rather far away from shopping, and the nearest Carrefore supermarket is about 15 walk from the hotel.
I am glad that I booked this hotel after I compared all other deals. I've been to several 5 star hotels in Wuhan on my vacations. So far, Shangrela is the most convenient one. Parking , Taxi, Local breakfast, Restaurant , everything is just around. The room was clean, no weird smoking smell like some other hotels. Hotel staffs are very friendly. I will come back next time.

Average hotel meets 3+ stars
We requested for a non-smoking room but it had very strong smell of smoking in the room. I asked for upgrade to a bigger room on the same floor but rejected by the guest service. She only switched us to the same room without any smell of smoking. There are construction around the area and very low class residential near by. I will not book this hotel again.
Only stayed a couple of nights but felt very welcomed by the friendly staff. Rooms were clean and quiet and the bed was comfortable. Would definitely stay there again... and would recommend to friends.
