The North Branch Deerfield River runs through Wilmington, a charming community in the heart of hilly forested terrain. The town contains several parks and is surrounded by picturesque forests and mountains. Explore the farms and state parks of the scenic rural environment and take in the fresh countryside air.

Wander through the central part of the town for a glimpse of local culture. Visit the Jim McGrath Gallery and Studio to admire the artist’s painting exhibits. See his acclaimed Hurricane piece that he painted from his window during a 2011 flood.

Wilmington contains many green spots, including Buzzy Park and Baker Field. Have a picnic on a field or choose from the range of restaurants in the town center.

Just 3 miles (5 kilometers) north of town is the Adams Family Farm, which has stayed in the family since its inception in 1865. Purchase locally produced products from the farm shop. Embark on guided horseback rides, wagon rides and horse-drawn sleigh adventures. Visit the animals and go fishing in this 130-acre (53-hectare) setting.

Practice your swing at one of the many golf courses in the sweeping fields around the town. The Hermitage Golf Club is particularly scenic in autumn, when the dense surrounding forest glows with shades of red, orange, yellow and green.

Make the most of the warm, humid summers with outdoor activities. Stroll along the trails of picturesque Molly Stark State Park that flanks the eastern outskirts of Wilmington. During this elevated region’s cold winters, its hills are capped with snow. Reach the fire tower at the summit of Mt. Olga and enjoy the spectacular views of the hilly valleys.

Find the town in Windham County at the southern end of Vermont. Take the Amtrak train, Greyhound bus or rental car to Brattleboro, which is 20 miles (32 kilometers) east of Wilmington. Get around the community with its black-and-white buses.

Stunning mountains and forests surround Wilmington, a charming town of art studios, monuments and golf clubs.
