Kilkenny Hibernian Hotel

10/10 Excellent

"Breakfast was disappointing for a guest with Celiac. The plates and bowls were located next to the bread and toast often times leaving crumbs on "clean" plates stacked next to it. I suggest adding some plates and bowls on the allergy safe table you have. Though the safely packaged gluten free bread, cereal, and dedicated toaster were very appreciated, possibly add some hot breakfast options besides scrambled eggs. Possibly an omelet option. For parking, you are required to park in the public garage near the hotel which is very close. The attendant at the garage was kind enough to charge me for a week as opposed to 3 days because it was much cheaper oddly. The staff should point that out. Although the free welcome drink is greatly appreciated, not everyone can drink prosecco due to migraines. Possibly add a second inexpensive option that isn't prosecco based. Overall, these issues would not stop a return visit. Location was perfect and the room was beautiful."

"Fast friendly check in. Location is excellent for walking around and exploring. Seems to cater to a pensioner tour group crowd. Easy parking garage across the street for 8 euro/day validated. Room and bed were huge by European standards. Mostly quiet, we heard some schoolkids passing through alley under our window. We didn't use fitness center, but it would be nice if we had more time. Enjoyed our stay!"

"This was such a welcome change from the hotels we’d been in nights before. Mary was an absolutely wonderful hostess. We picked up wine, cheese and bread before arriving and sat in the courtyard of the barn. Piper, the family cat, stayed close and enjoyed the ear scratches. We sat in the loft of the barn in the evening and enjoyed the cosy comfort and the wifi. We walked the trail around the property. A little forest bath before bed. The hut was comfortable….perfect really. Breakfast in the common area was perfect for us as well…homemade sourdough bread, farm fresh boiled eggs, lovely selection of healthy cereals, preserves, French press coffee and fresh fruit. Washrooms…..so well done. Large and well-equipped. This is really a unique and special place and you get to stay there for a very reasonable price."
