Close to ferry. Airport shuttle stopped right at the hotel. The breakfast buffet was excellent. Somehow all restaurants in town were full (or by reservation only) on our arrival day, appreciated the dinner options offered at the hotel.
This property was built in the mid nineties in western fashion in the rooms so expect roominess, a closet and drawers! The lobby is very nice and meticulously kept, the walkway up to the hotel needs some TLC and my room heat could not be turned down so the room was much too hot. The staff was very welcoming friendly and helpful. You will need some skill with a translator app to communicate with them well however. I would stay here again if I need to.
Beautiful multi story hotel on the harbor. Gorgeous lobby. Great dinner buffet . Hotel had feel of a great large city downtown hotel in the small city of WAKKANAI.
Enjoyable stay, clean, well appointed room, really comfortable bed. The main downsides were the lack of heating which wasn't communicated until we arrived and a rather expensive, though good, breakfast.
The Breakfast buffet was amazing and delicious at the Marine Restaurant, The Dinner at Anon was also spectacular I had Shabu Shabu and it was delicious, the staff ESPECIALLY Choong was very nice and Helpful 🙏🙏
the hotel is big and elegant and clean and is the last stop of the bus from
the airport, no need for a taxi, and
it is walking distance to the port for ferries going to Rishiri and Rebun islands
Perfect location. Close to JR station and bus station. We stayed for two nights in order to check out Cape Soya by bus.
Staff were very helpful considering we spoke limited Japanese. I would recommend it for others for its location to see Cape Soya.
A staff who can speak english, japanese, cantonese, mandrian is very helpful, i highly revommend surfeel hotel to everyone who will visit wakkanai.
The breakfast starts at 5am that we can catch the ferry to island to Rishiri without hurry.
The front desk staff, Jessica Choong, is super helpful on transportation and dining advices. She is very proactive to provide support and information. Her excellent services let me have a very good impression for this hotel!
My adult son and I stayed one night at this hotel in early January. The airport bus took us directly to the hotel as its last stop. I had wanted to visit Wakkanai so as to be able to take a bus up to Cape Soya, the northern tip of Japan, and to see La Perouse strait, where the submarine USS Wahoo was sunk in October of 1943. There is now a peace monument at Cape Soya along with other monuments. The Surfeel Hotel Wakkanai was an ideal hotel for our purposes. The Wakkanai bus terminal is only a few blocks away. My son and I had separate rooms, each with a wonderful view of the Japan Sea. Lunch in the restaurant was reasonably priced and was excellent. The staff kindly held our luggage for a few hours in the reception area after checkout, while we did some souvenir shopping at the bus terminal. The return airport bus that afternoon had its first stop at the hotel.

Liked: Staff & service, amenities
Staff checked us in smoothly. Room was clean but quite dated.
Great hotel. Just be careful of how windy it might get near the front entrance! There was a massive free parking lot across the street, so parking was no problem.
Ioved this hotel had everything my favorite of my 3 week stay in Japan very beautiful hotel and nothing lacking very friendly staff will stay again if visiting area.
The hotel is dated, like a luxury hotel stuck in the 80s. There is no need to, as it is the nicest hotel in Wakkanai. It doesn't come with the usual modern amenities typical of Japanese hotels, e.g. smart TV, but it compensate with a well maintained, clean and comfortable stay. The rooms are big and the beddings were good. There's plenty of free parking opposite the hotel. I will still choose to stay here if I were to visit Wakkanai again.
