If it's your first time travelling during the COVID-19 pandemic, you'll notice plenty of new standards and rules in place. Take note of these tips and make your trip to Wake Island a smooth one:

• Investigate if any travel restrictions apply to your origin and destination before booking. Also check if there are any conditions you'll need to follow on arrival, such as testing and quarantining.
• Requirements state you must wear a face mask throughout your travel experience, including at security checkpoints. You should be prepared to adjust your mask to verify your identity when asked by a TSA officer.
• To reduce the risk of cross-contamination, place your boarding pass on the reader yourself and then hold it up for inspection. Do not hand your boarding pass directly to a TSA officer.
• You can take one container of hand sanitizer up to 12 oz (350 ml) in your hand luggage. This will need to be taken out for X-ray screening.
• To reduce handling during screening, place items such as your belt, phone and wallet into your carry-on instead of into the bins.
• Separate any food you're carrying for X-ray scanning. Food items often trigger the alarm. Putting them in a clear plastic bag and into a bin reduces the need for a TSA officer to touch and inspect your belongings.
