This is one part of the Nizhny Novgorod Kremlin. A 16th-century fortress in one of the biggest cities in Russia. It's also another of my favorite sites in this country. Nizhny Novgorod is a very beautiful city, with many great churches. But this Kremlin really stands out. It was built between 1508-1515 and in 1949 underwent a restoration. You could spend a few hours here just walking and taking pictures :).

Where to stay in Volga

One of the jewels of Kazan! The new mosque connects the old Kazan Khanate with modern Russian and Islamic architecture, and serves to keep the memory of the original 16th century mosque alive. One of the best sites in all of Kazan, Tatarstan and Russia.

The museums and monuments are just a few things visitors like about Kazan City Centre. Kazan Academic Russian Bolshoi Drama Theatre and Central Market are worthwhile spots to check out, and you can hop on the metro at Ploshchad Tukaya Station or Kremlyovskaya Station to get around the larger area.
