LBV House Hotel

"Loved the location of this hotel up in the hills above Pinhao. Wonderful views from our balcony down over the terraced vineyards to the Douro river below. Incredibly quiet and peaceful spot. Also liked the hotel bar. There’s not much going on in Pinhao at night, but the LBV bar has a nice gathering of guests from all over and a good menu of salads, drinks and other light fare. Rooms are small as with just about all new boutique hotels these days, but very clean snd nice."

"Such a beautiful and quiet place! The staff were wonderful and helpful. Supper was delicious local specialties. Breakfast was great with custom eggs and lots of selection. Their wine is excellent! We would totally recommend staying at this small, family run Quinta."

"A truly lovely place to stay! One of the best hotel views EVER. Very friendly staff, well-maintained and new rooms. And did I mention the views? Fewer frills than some of the bigger properties in the Duoro, but peaceful, comfortable and friendly. Highly recommended!"

"The property is stunning!!! The views are indescribable - you have to see for yourself to really experience. Traveled with group of 6 - late 50s, early 60s (good physical shape overall)....I will say that there are TONS of steps to get anywhere and if you are unable to do a lot of steps (I mean TONS) - this is not the property for you. If you are able to do steps you have to see this place! One thing that I'll remember is Eduardo helping us check in saying "this is your home for your stay.....treat it as such and enjoy all that the property offers"......The snack bar is meh. The breakfast buffet more than satisfying...."

"Unfortunately there had been a storm and the hotel was without a restaurant or bar, and in recovery mode. However, the receptionist was very helpful. The hotel itself is a stunner."
Casa do Rio Wine Hotel - Vallado

"Our stay at Casa do Rio was exceptional. There are 10 rooms with stunning views of the Douro River and vineyards. Our room was spotless and tastefully decorated, and we were welcomed with a plate of fresh figs and white port and all ingredients to make portonics. The grounds are lovely with an infinity pool overlooking the river and two semi private fresh water dunking pools. The food and was outstanding! We made our dinner selections earlier in the day and were treated to an exquisite 3 course meal complete with dessert and wine service. We were served a breakfast buffet every morning with fresh fruit and juices, cured meats and cheeses, an abundant offering of homemade breads, pastries and cake of the day. There were also eggs and meats prepared to order. The staff and service completed our stay. They were genuinely warm and gracious. From Felipe, the manager who greeted us upon our arrival, to the Daniel and Carlos, our food servers for dinner, to all of the other staff who contributed to our amazing experience. Wow!!"
