Since the suites are located in a heritage house from the early 1900s, that does mean that there will unfortunately be some sound carrying throughout the house. Hi Frances, Your reservation at the Ocean Island Suites wasn't cancelled as far as I can see. We had you on the arrival list, but nobody came to check in. While doing our night audit, we marked you as a no-show and were forced to charge you as per our cancellation policy. Hi there and thanks for your review. The Suites are indeed located in a very nice neighbourhood, also known as James Bay. This is actually the oldest part of the city of Victoria, hence why you see a lot of heritage houses there! Moreover, its known for being close to Beacon Hill Park, the beach and also downtown Victoria. We're happy to hear you found the unique neighborhood of James Bay to be so safe and quiet, and that you enjoyed the suites' puppy-friendly back yard. Thank you for the review. Our garden suites are an extension of our hostel, and are yes set up as a vacation rental property. We apologize for any misinterpretation, we do work hard with Expedia to ensure that those interested in booking the suites know what to expect and to ensure that it is a good fit for their vacation. Check in for the suites is at our main hostel location however our staff will accommodate you with detailed instructions and maps with the easiest way to get to the suites or if needed a complimentary cab ride to the suites. The suites are a self contained unit, however if at anytime during your stay there you are looking for assistance you can call our main location where there is 24 hour front desk staff to assist you should you have any questions. Our suites are in a great location in the very desirable James Bay area, tucked in behind the parliament building, we are very happy to hear that you enjoyed its location and the back garden just as much as we do!
