"Close to the beach "
Came for a conference so I decided to extend my stay for a few days and I ended up staying here for a week. Everything was great and the hotel is close to the beach. However, there's nothing much to do besides that so you may need to take a taxi/bus/metro to get to the city. Breakfast is the same everyday. The hotel staff were very friendly. The pool however is extremely small.

"Great stay in Valencia "
As usual the Caro hotel was a great experience, definitely the best hotel in Valencia! Couldn't have a more central location in a hotel that is boutique but has all the amenities of a large hotel.

"Excellent"
Outstanding stay at this very classy art deco hotel. My king room was indulgently large with walk thru robe, huge bathroom and separate WC. We had a lovely exterior outlook (not all rooms would have it) onto a quiet street. Pleasant weather meant we were able to open our windows to get fresh air (rather than A/C)

"Perfect in every way"
This hotel experience was one of the nicest I have ever had. The Hotel itself is a mid-size hotel - I read that it was a converted mansion. It sits right outside the boundary of the old city, and is one block from a central roundabout called "Porta de la Mar" or Gate to the sea. This contains a huge beautiful castle/gate and originally was a main entrance into the city. It it the intersection of six main roads including the Calle Colon. (I read all this history just now to write this review.) Thus the name of the Hotel - de la Mar - and the word "Palau" means Palace in the language of Valencian Catalan. IT IS THE PERFECT LOCATION TO BE. Minutes away is an entry to the Cauce del Rio Turia, where one can walk for miles along the park which used to be the River Turia. 15 Minutes the other way are all the main attractions and restaurants of the old city. Our room was beautiful and modern and the staff couldn't have been nicer and more helpful. They have a small work-out room with 4 machines in the basement area as well as sauna and a small lovely swimming pool with water jets and relaxing music and chairs to sit on. In the central courtyard is a spa where one can get a massage and there are tables and chairs in sun or shade. They have a great restaurant where we had a complimentary breakfast everyday and the food and choice was amazing. We did not try the dinner there but I saw that it had many people eating there and the menu looked fabulous.

"Luxury and comfort at a reasonable price"
This is a big, modern hotel on the edge of the old town. The spacious entrance hall and friendly welcome, including a scarf worn during the ongoing 'Fallas' festival produced and excellent first impression. The rooms were large and spacious and the beds were the most comfortable we found during our 4 city tour. Added bonuses were that we could watch the nightly fireworks from just outside the hotel and there were frequent busses to and from the beach. The double glazing almost succeeded in blocking out the incessant explosions but then again that is what we came to experience. Outside the Fallas this is an economical solution with a nearby parking garage and not too far from the station.

Very good hotel with friendly staff. Beginning of season without room service. Bar is not open all the time. Everything else you expect from a hotel is very good.

"The location is golden, if that's all you care..."
I can't be more pleased with the location of Pension Alicante even though the sign is a little hidden and wasn't easy to find at the first place. I came into Valencia via high speed rail (AVE by Renfe) from Madrid (Madrid-Puerta De Atocha station to Valencia Joaquin Sorolla station). After I arrived Valencia Joaquin Sorolla, there's a free shuttle (look for Renfe sign) right outside the train station that connects travelers to the location train station which is right next to Xativa metro station and Pension Alicante is within 2 minute walk from Xativa station. The girl who helped me checked in spoke pretty good English and gave me a really helpful overview of where to go, what to visit in Valencia. I originally booked a double room with shared bath (that's what's available when I booked) but then was contacted by the manager to see if I am willing to swap to a single room with private bath about 2 weeks prior to my stay. I asked for the pictures to ensure what I'm getting into, and they sent the pictures within 3-4 days. The room looked exactly like the pictures I received, and even though it's tiny, it's efficiently equipped with all things I needed. The only complaint I have is that it's quite noisy there. It's actually not the surrounding but the fellow residents that's making it kinda unpleasant to stay there. You can hear people talking late at night and kids running and playing at 3 am when the parents are checking out. If you have ear plugs, you might be fine.
