Romantic retreat

Delightful retreat part of the Graythwaite Estate. The welcome was second to none and we had the fire to ourselves for Sunday eve.

What a wonderful find

So glad I found this property. Quiet and secluded situated approx half way between Newby Bridge & Hawkshead on a very interesting road. We stayed in the largest of the rooms and could see Windemere from it. The bed was huge and the room was comfortable and had everything we needed. Amanda was a wonderful host and was happy to give us ideas on local places to eat and visit. Nothing was too much trouble. Would definitely stay here again.

Great location , needed some warmth

Lovely location , pity about the lack of hospitality no warmth from host, there was a good selection of cereal and fruit but only offered a full English, only brown toast offered

Great Service

We loved out stay in this really old hall. The rooms were very clean and comfortable. The owner Amanda was also very helpful and couldn't do enough for her guests. She also had excellent knowledge of the area and walks we could do and had plenty of maps we could borrow. Ulverston is about 12 miles away, Hawkshead about 10 miles. You do need to drive to get to places for an evening meal if you want to go out as there is nothing within comfortable walking distance but the hotel did offer an evening meal upon request but we prefered to go out for our meal. Breakfast was also very lovely!

Historic home in quiet, lovely grounds.

We had the Tethera Room at Low Graythwaite Hall, which was lovely. Massive, very comfortable bed. Beautiful views from the window seats, especially of our favourite adopted lamb - number 21! Full of character, however, the house is rather isolated so a car is essential and there is nowhere to walk out to in the evenings to eat. Disappointingly, the indoor pool was nowhere to be seen. Breakfast was very nice, served in a lovely panelled room overlooking the garden. No choices were offered other than a full English, but it was delicious.

Charming, Secluded & Comfortable Accommodation

A lovely traditional old country home, with wonderful breakfasts and a roaring log fire. Amanda made us feel very much at home and a nice little touch was the evening tea and cake in the lounge in front of the log fire. The Expedia website didn't make it clear that the swimming pool and fitness centre were located one mile away from the hall and that you need your own towels, but I believe the Graythwaite Hall website does.

Perfection in the Lakes.

I'm reluctant to write this as you will all go and stay there now and I'll never get a vacancy. Amanda runs this delightful place with friendliness and welcome. It feels like being in your own perfect country house. The bedroom was gorgeous, the lounge very welcoming and breakfast delicious. All in all, 5 star.
