"Disappointing Experience – Poor Management & Service I had a terrible experience at the Baymont in Spearfish. The property is poorly managed, severely lacking in basic maintenance, and had a generally uncomfortable atmosphere. A major selling point for us was the pool, but it does not work as advertised. The housekeeping and basic operations were completely unacceptable. After my first request, it took three full days just to get our room cleaned. When I requested cleaning a second time, the staff explicitly promised me it would be taken care of, but it was never done. At one point, I asked for clean towels and was told they hadn't even done the laundry, forcing me to go hunt down towels from the fitness area myself. To top it off, there were some highly questionable characters—who appeared to be employees—just wandering the hallways late at night, which felt entirely unprofessional and unsafe. I am incredibly disappointed and will not be returning."

"For a low-budget motel in a tourist area, I was amazed. Everything was fresh and clean; none of the usual wear and tear. The two staff members I encountered were both friendly and pleasant. The man who checked me in must have noted my use of a cane and some difficulty getting out of my car: he gave me the room nearest the door and a parking space right close to the door. After traveling all day in 90-100° temperatures, the room was pleasantly cool. When the temperature outside dropped, I was pleasantly surprised to find the window slid open easily, admitting cool, fresh mountain air. I plan to stay there on my return trip."
