Excellent choice for Kinosake-Onsen. Staff was above and beyond amazing. Incredible location. We were a bit worried that this might be too far from the center of town but on the contrary, it was an easy walk and we enjoyed being in a quieter location. Walk into town was beautiful. Can not recommend this place enough!

This experience was top notch! Wonderful staff. Every step of the way my friends and me were taken care of and made to feel welcome. The food was better than a 3 Michelin star meal we had earlier in our trip and our room felt authentic. This was a true spa experience at a fraction of the cost you would pay in the US, but with much better service.

This place is amazing. The Onsen is a luxury and we enjoyed it to the max. Dinner was served in our room every night and it was delicious. We will definitely come back.

Nishimuraya Hotel Shogetsutei offered an excellent Japanese and Western breakfast and dinner selection. Shogetsutei's Japanese Kaiseki Ryori is top notch that comes with top notch service and attention :)

This was the best hotel--of any style--I've ever stayed at in my life. It was also my first ryokan experience. Everything was top-notch. Service was exemplary--from the check-in staff, to my room attendant, to housekeeping, to the shuttle bus drivers, to the onsen staff--they were all so great! The hotel's onsen were wonderful. I wish I could've gone more often! The kaiseki dinners were outstanding. The western-cuisine restaurant (Ricca) was also outstanding. The rooms and facilities were well-maintained and extremely clean. The waterfall view from the lobby lounge felt so Zen! The shuttle bus was super convenient. Even if you don't make use of the shuttle bus, the property is only a 15-to-20-minute walk to town, and it's a very pleasant walk. The nearest public onsen, Kono-yu, is perhaps less than a 10-minute walk away. (It could've been even faster if I wasn't wearing geta). I can't say enough good things about Nishimuraya Hotel Shogetsutei. Excellent ryokan in a super-nice onsen town. Highly recommended!

Amazing Hotel with a beautiful mountain view from the "Superior Japanese Room". Staff were super friendly and the shuttle bus was very handy. We also really enjoyed the private bath "Rinsen".

They actually have the absolutely nicest onsen in the whole town. Their dinner is superb! It's a beautifully run and well designed place. The Beds are so very comfortable and the location excellent. It was a such a memorable experience and my son and I had an absolutely excellent time. They could not have been more gracious.

It's the most amazing Ryokan stay for us. Really very great service and clean rooms. Top notch service award goes to Kobayashi-san who assisted us greatly in calling and confirming our next hotel stay. Will definitely stay in this hotel on our next visit :)

It was a treat to stay at the Nishimuraya Hotel Shogetsuhei. Everything is tastefully done. Beautiful hotel, onsen, great dinner and breakfast. If you like hot springs, forget the town's public onsens, and just stay and enjoy it at the onsen. This was a splurge for me, but so worth it after the hustle and bustle of Osaka. Stay for more than a night to enjoy all that Nishimuraya and Kinosaki has to offer.

A most pleasant Onsen hotel
The hotel is modern & quite new. It's facilities & onsen are well maintained. The location is at the quiet end of the town with verdant landscape making it a pleasant relaxing stay. Thoroughly enjoyed my stay & will be returning soon.

It's the further hotel from the train station but they have free shuttle bus. Great service, nice room, great onsen, great kaiseki diner, great breakfast.They provide yukatafor you to walk around in the town. Also, very good point, hotels.com cannot figure out that a 3 months old baby does not need breakfast. But the hotel is nice enough to refund us the baby's fare without us asking.

The staff were very helpful, the ambience and facilities were great (although dinner had to be reserved in advance, but it was excellent - 10 courses of extraordinary food and a vegetarian version made for my partner). The onsen was beautiful. The room was a little bare, but very clean and very comfortable.

Great hotel with fabulous staff , we received great service and love their attitude! Staff is very caring , they offered to make my bed when I was sick and make sure I can get a good rest . Very efficient operated hotel. Neat and clean keep in beautiful condition. Private Osen room view is stunning. Also the view of the mountain covered with snow from the room on the 5th floor is spectacular . Very pleasant visit. Breakfasts served with many choices mixed between Western and traditional style.

This hotel is situated on an amazing piece of property. We loved the view out of our room and the staff treated us like Kings and Queens. The hotel was very nice and we had a great time. The shuttle is prompt and always available. However, the hall ways had a terrible mold/ rotten smell which floated over into the room. We got used to it after about 5 minutes or so, but every time we walked down the hallways to our room we smelled it. I'm thinking it was due to the moldy stained carpets throughout. Also, not knowing the policy of some hotels in Japan, my Expedia account was automatically set to 2 people staying in the room. So I booked the hotel for $460 for 2 nights. When I arrived they happen to notice there were 3 of us. Two adults and 1 child. Apparently, many hotels in Japan require an exact person count when you originally book the room. So when we arrived we had to shell out another $250! This was obviously a huge bummer and ruined the first few hours of our stay. Had it been the original price, I'd say it was a good value for the condition of the Hotel and Onsen. However, being $350 a night, there are much better hotels at a lower price just down the street and closer to town.
