It is literally a 5 minute walk to Chestermans beach which is amazing. The cabin was warm and inviting, the kitchen was well stocked and they even included an emergency bag if needed. Great host, very personable. The cabin is just inches from the main house so if complete privacy is what you’re after this may not offer as much privacy as some need. For our family though it was wonderful, the loft bed in the hidden little nook was really cool. Very nice place

Property was as described. Nice quiet location just a few minutes out of town. Minimal kitchen amenities so staying in a bit of a challenge, but many good dining options nearby. Good value in a nice location.

Great location and very clean
Excellent location. Very clean. Very friendly owner. No complaints either than hotels.ca need to separate the two suites at this location (one being the Blackbear guesthouse and the other the cedar room). One has a kitchen and the other one does not. The place was perfect and we enjoyed our stay.

Everything is very thoughtful. From rain coats, board games, chocolates, bathroom organization, full stocked kitchen supplies, bbq, hot tub, bikes and to many to count. I stay alot of places for work and this was top notch. Thank you

Wonderful room, excellent locally crafted shampoos and soaps. Complimentary bikes and rain jackets. Very friendly and informative host. Close to beautiful Chesterman beach but a bit far from town and most restaurants however there is a free summer shuttle that runs until around 7-8pm. Overall a great time! Would book again.

Super quiet and close to the beaches! I stayed in the Cedar Room, which is much bigger than the photos make it out to be. Bathroom was completely stocked, and the decor really added to the overall vibe of the place. For those who prefer not to pay for parking in Tofino or the beaches: the owner even has a selection of bikes that you're free to travel around with! 10/10 would stay again :)

We enjoyed our stay at the black bear guesthouse. We had the cedar room, beds are comfortable and bathrooms clean and well appointed. Great price for a visit in the off season. If you book the larger room, the hot tub looks good and is situated so as to give you some privacy from the main house.

The owners are very polite and responsive. We didn't arrive until 11:30 p.m. and they had no issue with receiving us at that time. We will be booking at this property again next year

Beautiful guesthouse
Beautiful guesthouse on a lovely families property. As soon as we arrived we were made to feel welcome and given loads of great recommendations for the area. Property was nice, comfortable and warm and had everything we needed for our stay. The view from the private deck was stunning! Would definitely book again

Hassle free check in, adequate parking for a truck. Sat out on the chairs at low tide and watched a black bear forraging for food across the inlet. Very nice place!

The hosts welcomed us warmly. The room was great with an entrance separate from the room. The bed was very comfy. Overall, just a great experience and would recommend it to anyone!

We had a great time there...altho it was just an overnight, we got to meet Bobbi early and she let us slickers because it looked like rain. We didn't need them tho. Great Location, very clean and very comfy bed. Got to use bikes that were available for us. Would highly recommend staying at this place..

Great suite and location. It was clean and comfortable. Our only negative was that the other rental is above and you could hear them walking around.

Thank you for your feedback and thank you for staying with us. Although we did an extensive soundproofing renovation, there is still noise of footfall from the Suite above. We took this into consideration when pricing the Cedar room and in the description.

Fantastic location, very friendly hosts
Fantastic stay near Tofino at this guesthouse run by a family. Everything is nice and clean, and the location is superb. Will definitely stay again.

4 of us stayed here for 2 nights. Everything was excellent! About a 5 min drive from town. Property was well maintained. Would recommend. Super minor thing was only 2 hot tub towels all though I’m sure we could’ve messaged for more and would have loved a few extra blankets (which could have been decreased because of Covid). The board games were a great touch

Didn’t like all the kids screaming. Inlet view very disappointing as it’s nice for maybe 5 hours. Then a mud hole.

So sorry my kids were a little excited the first day you happened to arrive. We left town for the next 2 nights of your stay so I’m sure the property was very peaceful and quiet. Apologies for any inconvenience on your first day here. Jensen’s Bay is a protected bird sanctuary and a vital part of the Clayoquot Sound Ecosystem. At high tide the bay is full of water and at low tide the flats are exposed which has given us incredible sighting of bears and wolves as they make their way across this ‘wildlife corridor’. Perhaps a lack of perspective of the beauty that is the Nature all around us. I’m glad you were able to enjoy the bikes we have available free for guests. Sorry that some of your expectations were not met.

Great location 5 minutes from a wonderful sandy beach. Clean and nicely decorated room with a lovely deck to sit on by the water overlooking the inlet. Quiet, beautiful and peaceful.

This place exceeded our expectations! Views of the inlet from the fully stocked kitchen and dining room. High ceilings and beautiful finishes. We loved the waterfront deck for the guests to just sit and enjoy the view. Chesterman Beach is literally a 2 minute walk and we were able to bike to the town in 15 minutes with the cruisers they provided. It’s flat most of the way which was nice. The location was perfect and the host provided 5 star service. We can’t wait to go back and possibly bring the kids this time.

Beautiful stay at Black Bear
The suite we had was beautiful but small in the kitchen/eating area. This was not a problem for us as we were out a lot. The hosts are very welcoming and gave us great tips on where to go.

This review is from guests who destroyed all our linens after an event in Tofino. They checked out without communicating about the mess that was left. Quite certainly the most disrespectful, careless guests out there. They were charged for the ruined bedding and thus a poor review for us I suppose?

From the moment we arrived Bobbi and Jay could not be more welcoming. The property is well cared for and no detail missed. We especially loved the guest deck for morning coffee and the short walk to Chesterman. This was our first time at Black Bear Guesthouse but it certainly won't be our last.

Not at all what I booked or thought I was getting - I think this was more an error with expedia than Blackbear. I had booked a suite with a gorgeous kitchen, comfy living room and hot tub...the suite I received had none of the above. In the entry to the suite I had was one solo wingback chair with a side table. On the side table was a coffee maker and mini fridge. To say I was disappointed was a gross understatement. I went for storm season and was really looking forward to coming back to the room and warming up with a hot tub, cozy fire and good food. The suite I had didn't even have a tub...shower only. The chair, sitting directly beside the drafty front door, looked out at the driveway and main house so not much privacy. The bedroom had a window high up the wall so you could only see the tree tops and sky. No tv. There were books around the room and delicious homemade muffins delivered in the morning. The suite was very clean and well taken care of. The hosts were incredibly friendly. The suite wasn't what I was expecting or what I wanted so I found myself incredibly disappointed. I enjoyed the tumultuous weather and reacquainting myself with Tofino, just wished I had a cozy place to come back to.

I’m so sorry, you booked the wrong Suite and we’re not happy. The Cedar room is our more economical room and many people travelling more on a budget are over the moon with the space. The Black Bear suite is definitely our more luxurious Suite with hot tub, fireplace, etc. It is quite a bit more pricey than the Cedar room. They are separate suites available to book on Expedia and it’s rare I have guests mixing up which suite they intended to book. Again, I’m so sorry you were disappointed and you didn’t get to enjoy your stay as much as you should’ve. Kindest regards, Bobbi

Mediocre at best
This guest house is a 10 minute drive from town which isn’t too bad. But the only view you get is from the guest deck around the other side of the property, you get no view in the room. The 2 guest rooms on this property have zero insulation between them and you can hear EVERYTHING from the other unit. The bed would have been comfortable had it not been so incredibly creaky. All in all..... I wouldn’t go again.

Would’ve been great to have these issues communicated to us as we could’ve done something to make it right. These guests were not friendly at all and I knew when I met them they would find something to complain about.

Amazing quiet and private location, walking distance to Chesterman Beach and a short drive to the town of Tofino. The space is light and bright with all of the amenities you could need. Owners are friendly and attentive. Highly recommend!
