"I was greeted in reception by the owner himself who is very knowledgeable and passionate about the island and it's amenities and activities. If needed, he runs a car hire business and also has a cash out ATM machine. The room was very well appointed, and clean. It had TV, wi-fi, and in-room coffee and bikkie service. There were dishes if you wanted to prepare food on the grill outside, or use the microwave. There are restaurants and a huge supermarket (IBIS) within easy walking distance. I went to the Torres Straight Cultural Center, which is different than the museum on Horn Island. It is free. The Horn Island museum has a lot more historical artifacts of the area and costs $10. Both are worth visiting. The locals keep their culture alive, and there were school kids performing the dances near the hotel, and they let me watch. Very nice, they are happy, and I felt very welcomed on the island."
