"The location was very convenient to be able to hop on the highway. The property was fairly clean and the staff was very helpful. The breakfast however was fairly disappointing. We stayed for three nights and got the same breakfast each morning which was sausage patties and eggs along with the usual "cold" options of bagels, toast, muffins etc. I had hoped for a little variety each day (bacon instead of sausage or biscuits and gravy one morning). Everything was tasty but it was disappointing to receive the same thing each day. We received a handicapped room because we "booked the hotel through a third party and when you do that, this sometimes happens." This was unexpected and we were not able to get a different one. The room was ok enough. The bathroom floor flooded a bit when we used the shower because there was no lip to the shower area. I don't think a small lip on the shower would have been too much to ask for even if it was a handicapped room. The bathroom ceiling was peeling and discolored in places which was a bit off-putting."

"The staff on the day of arriving were extremely rude and not to mention there were things in the room that didn’t work and when I’d call or my find would call front desk they would blow us off. It sucked and made us feel a little unwelcomed. I know I wouldn’t come back after this."

"Staff was pleasant, I was able to check in early. The hotel was located near lots of attractions and the hotel was nice and clean and my room was more than I expected."

"We had a good stay at the HGI in Gastonia. Generally clean, with some signs of wear in the room, but otherwise fine. The staff was above and beyond nice and helpful at the front desk (Crystal was a standout- VERY nice!). The bartender was also nice and helpful when kids in our group wanted to order food. The lounge areas outside and in the lobby were good for adult hangouts. The ONLY things we didn't love were that the pool area was SO loud that we ended up leaving when a group of about 7 young girls came for a birthday party. The echo and noise aggravated tinnitus in a dad in our party and he had to leave immediately. Our girls also said the pool was very cold so heat would be nice, even in May. We didn't love the sliding bathroom door that didn't lock and the hotel lobby reeked of fried food nearly 24 hours a day. You couldn't be there for more than 30 seconds without smelling like it. The smell was also up in our room on the second floor so we wished we had a higher floor. Their kitchen needs much better external ventilation. All in all a good stay, but with some minor complaints."
