5/5 Excellent
Excellent but watch out for the stairs!
"OK, stairs might not be an issue for you in which case you can ignore them, but if you have mobility problems then this is probably not the place for you. Knees that don't do stairs well groaned when faced with the long flight up to reception and went decidedly wobbly when faced with the climb to the rooms, which was steeper than one would encounter in a modern building.
In my experience it's not difficult to find fault with the condition of old hotels, but the Corner House decor and appearance were flawless. The rooms, including the bathroom, were spotless and while the bath towels were a bit small, it would be churlish to hold that against them - they functioned as they should!
Very comfortable, even a TV which was tuned in correctly with a working remote. The only odd thing was that the bedside tables were far too high to comfortably access when in bed and made it impossible to switch the tall bedside lamps on or off without getting up. Not sure why anyone would do that. They look good but function really should take precedence over form sometimes.
The staff were friendly and helpful and attended to our need to cancel one night efficiently and without fuss. Breakfast was excellent.
We're moving to the area so probably won't be stopping again but I wish we'd found this place earlier. Except for the stairs..."
