On our first trip to Japan, we were not sure what to expect, but Wat Hotel was an incredible experience. We came to the exceptionally clean and classy establishment and greeted by the jovial staff member Riko M. Despite how busy it was, she made sure we were well taken care of and made navigating the system easy especially with her great English skills. She had no trouble making us feel welcome in an unfamiliar area. The breakfast had a wide variety and even had several staff members keeping everything in order to make it a smooth dining experience. We would easily visit again during our next stay in Takayama and also recommend Wat Hotel to friends and family.

The breakfast was great, with many varieties of foods. The room was clean and spacious. There is separate toilet and washbasin.

Probably one of the less practical hotels near the station. Swarmed with international tourists (granted I was one of them so…). Facilities are fine but it felt understaffed compared to the mountain of tourists it was serving. Next time I’d stay somewhere else.

This hotel stay was one of the best stay I ever had. From the moment I walked in and the check-out, the staffs were very nice, friendly, and very helpful. The complimentary welcome beer was so good! The breakfast was great with so many varieties of both Japanese and western foods. The bar and other complimentary offers were unbelievable. Onsen experience was great! I (we) totally enjoyed our stay and planning to visit again just to enjoy this hotel stay! I would definitely stay in the future and highly recommend this hotel stay to anyone who expects a pleasant stay.

Enjoyed the onsen facilities (remember to budget for onsen tax on arrival), the room was comfortable and the breakfast was mediocre but plenty of it. Easy walk from the station and into old town.

Additionally, you can reach Takayama Station in about 10 minutes on foot, so the hotel's location is ideal for sightseeing in Takayama City.For breakfast, in addition to the standard items, we also have local Takayama dishes such as Hoba Miso,'' Pickled Steak,'' and Kei-chan.'' We enjoyed our stay a lot here! The staff are very nice and the hot spring was excellent! The facilities are so sufficient and the room is very clean. Since we drive, we didn't spend a lot time to explore the surroundings. But it is within 20 mins ride to morning markets and other sightseeing spots! Highly recommended! We would stay here again if we visit Hida again (:

We were pleasantly surprised by how well kept and modern and spacious this hotel is! The only gripe we had was the laundry dryer which didn’t work well at all and we ended up driving to a nearby coin laundry to do our laundry

Nice and clean
The thermal baths on the 7th floor are excellent. I loved it that they provide pyjamas that can be worn everywhere in the hotel, not just to go to the baths. The staff are friendly and helpful. The hotel is away from most of the action but it is a small town and one can go everywhere on foot.

This is an average - good hotel regarding rooms and service. Parking is adjacent which is a positive thing. The biggest disappointment is breakfast. A small and stuffy breakfast room in the lobby lodge. There is not enough place and a very little variety. Location is fair on the fringe of touristic area close to everything. You can go but do not count on their breakfast (there is a small caffe with a charming owner near by for cofee and a sandwich)
