  • Last night we went to a Taoist Temple in Taipei. You can see in the close up picture of people praying how they receive and answer immediately from the prayers. After kneeling and bowing, you throw two "stones" onto the floor. They are both crescent shaped with a sun and a moon side. If they end up both on one side, the answer is NO. If they end up both on the other side, the answer is maybe, or not enough information. If the end up like a ying and a yang, then the answer is YES. I took a moment to pray, asked my question and got a ying and a yang out of the throw. The belief is, that the result comes from within your own heart.

The Discover hostel is amazing. I can’t recommend it enough. They make you feel like family immediately. They help you with whatever you need, whether that be helping you figure out how to call a cab or helping you unlock your locker when you reset and forget the code (oops). The location is great, near the center of the city. It’s right next to a bus stop and a short walk away from a subway stop. There are many little restaurants and 7/11’s extremely close by, so if you get the munchies, you don’t have to walk far. The hostel is just off a main road so it’s super easy to get a taxi. The SongShan airport is so close you could walk if your luggage isn’t heavy. Or you can easily take a bus. Oh, and if you walk in the direction of the airport, you come across a cool, pretty park. I had some great conversations with people there. It’s a great place to go to take a walk or meet new people or see an evening music performance. I totally recommend staying at Discover Hostel!!! -Ruthie

Not recommend bc Long Term Guests not Travelers

Weird place. It’s a clean place in a decent location for a reasonable price but I don’t recommend it. If this were a backpacker or traveler hostel it would be great but the lounge feels like the living room of the long term low income Taiwanese guests. The fridge is packed. People don’t talk to each other. Weird vibes. If they make a mistake, you have to pay. Make sure to get a receipt because they won’t trust you when you say you paid.

Wifi is spotty. Can’t rely in it.

毎回、台北に来る度に泊まってます。 ビル自体は古いが、綺麗に清掃されている。 シャワーは、皆さん使った後だと汚いが、掃除が終わった夕方に入れば綺麗。 とにかく立地が最高で、バス停が目の前にあり、松山空港からバスで10分かからない。 共有スペースも居心地が良い。
