"The hotel is an old hotel that’s been painted over to make seem new. However, our room was very smelly and we had to move and the second one. also had an odd odor. Maybe it’s an old smoking hotel and they were trying to cover it up with paint I’m not sure but even though the staff was very helpful and very nice and the breakfast was fine. I would not recommend this hotel."

"We liked the hotel’s location and quiet atmosphere. We appreciated the fact that we could hop in the car and be on our way to downtown without any hassle. Our room was already clean and ready when we returned from our daily forays. I must say that the checkout young lady was professional and very friendly. I guess this attitude helps a lot in a service industry like hotel service. We would definitely return in the future to this location and recommend it to friends."

"The Howard Johnson at Mystic is an inexpensive lodging, located in a central location. The room we stayed in was clean, but the hallway was drab and needed to be vaccumed. The pool did not look inviting, so we didn't use it."

"They were renovating. No gym, no pool or business center available but they still charged full price. The entire place smelled of industrial glue- for carpets or mounding. But don’t worry they had ear plugs available in a basket at the front desk that was supposed to help you not hear all the construction work inside and out in the parking lot"

"Dead ants on the floor, otherwise clean. Place a bit run down, but free limo to Foxwoods until 3am. Parking convenient & free. Rooms are large with refrigerator & microwave. Breakfast: waffles, cereal, breads."

"Parking was adequate and safe. The room was clean. The A/C unit recirculates inside air. Still waiting on refund of amenities deposit of $50. "

"Best bed I’ve slept on in my life. Check in was a breeze. Located “in the middle” of the action. Old mystic village and the aquarium is a couple minutes to the right and the seaport museum and down town is a few minutes to the left. I will deff be staying here again!"

"The property looks vacant/closed when you drive by. Looks like it hasn’t been open in years. When we checked in there was an issue between the staff about what rooms were cleaned and not cleaned. When we got to our room it was tiny and super dark, even with all of the lights on. The armchair looked to have an old bullet hole and tones of mystery stains all over it. The bathroom was set up for little tiny people. The door was about half the size of a normal door, the toilet sat about 18” off the floor, everything was on top of each other in the bathroom. When I went to hang my jacket and dresses there were no hooks or closet bar to hang my things on. We decided it wasn’t for us so we were going to look for a new place to stay. When I tried to get onto the WiFi it did not extent to my room and there was absolutely no cell service (our phones were in sos) they were very understanding at the desk about us wanting a refund. All thought it did take almost 4 days to come back to us. I would never recommend this place to even most worst enemy. They should be shut down."
