"No front desk. Had trouble unlocking the door upon arrival. Some maintenance folks happened to be there and helped out. Basically, it is not that the code based locks don't work. There wasn't instructions for how to use the quirky thing.
It is a barebone facility. Worked for two nights."
"Great location, loved sitting on the deck and looking at the mountains. The hot tub inside the room was dirty, had not been cleaned from previous use, I had to clean it myself. The well water that fills it is yellow and leaves a residue. There was also crusty stuff on the bedspread, and the bed and pillows were pretty uncomfortable. Good price for the location and size of the room, but don't think it would be our first choice if we go back to Estes."
"Great location. Beautiful place right along the river. Quiet area with no issues. Owner was very nice and accommodating. Highly recommend staying in one of the cabins. Perfect if you want to cook rather than eat out every meal. No carpet so recommend bringing slippers. The property is outside of town but minutes to everything you want to do in Estes Park."
"We really enjoyed the unique decor with stuffed mounted animals and birds above the lobby in alcoves. It was great to have an elevator to the second floor. The custom wood branch construction of chairs and bed frames and cupboards was outstanding.. Our room had a beautiful view of the mountains. All the amenities were convenient. A quick drive into town or up the highway into the western side of Rocky Mountain National Park made the hotel perfectly located. There was no onsite breakfast late May, but there were plenty of nice cafes and restaurants in Grand Lake. We would definitely stay there again and recommend it to friends. The whole ambiance was “Mountain cozy.” Also an easy drive to Hot Sulphur Springs which we enjoyed."
"The unit that we were placed in is currently in the middle of a construction area. The notification on Expedia has two sentences at the very bottom of the information, stating that the neighboring construction may cause a noise disturbance. It does NOT state that the rooms in the River Lodge are actually in the construction zone. Workers park all around you; construction material is stacked in the parking area; workers wake you up and are just outside your door at 7 am; and they even temporarily block you in your parking space. These units should not be rented while they are in the construction zone. Management did offer to refund us or move us to a different unit, but we only stayed three nights, so it was not worth losing our vacation time to relocate.
The room (with two queen beds) itself is comfortable for two if you don't mind having a kitchenette stuffed next to the one closet or not having a dresser to put your clothes in.
The location is great with easy access to the RMNP Fall River entrance and just a couple of miles outside of Estes Park. We thoroughly enjoyed visiting RMNP and Estes Park."
