Rugs Hotel Düsseldorf – Self Check- In

8/10 Good

"I believe the high ratings are in comparison to the price you're paying. It is certainly not as well supplied as a nice hotel, but it worked fine for us. There is no staff at the front so we saw many people stuck outside calling to get their room numbers etc... So the "email on arrival" system appears not to work properly and they should fix it. There is no actual self check-in set up. But we got there around 240pm and the person who works in the kitchen was kind enough to help and explain how the place works. The cupboard where you can grab extra towels, soap, or other items as needed really helpful given the desk isn't staffed so thanks for that (even had a converter!) The rooms were clean and the beds were... Okay. As you slept on them they softened a but but as a side sleeper I tossed and turned a lot. The TVs are old school so you only have access to cable... And the subtitles were only available in German. So bring something to do if you don't want to watch the news or religious programming in German! Haha. The room was spacious overall (we were in the twin bed one) and thankfully there's a second door that helps dampen the sound from the hall. It got warm at night but it's SO LOUD outside we still shut the window at night as it just wasn't worth it. But overall the place was clean and for the price it was great... Although watch the surge pricing if you're booking: I didn't realise until after we'd booked that one night cost triple the others... Oh well."

"We booked a premium room and we asked to be put in a room that over looks the train tracks at the back, the person on reception said no problem but when we got to room we were looking out the front. It's not a big deal but if no rooms available just say, don't lie"
