Very cool lobby, great employees, just an all-around breath of fresh air for Springfield. The perfect business traveler room! Lots of plugs! Loved the steamer instead of an iron! Good breakfast! "I think my major concern was the status of the carpet in the room that I was given - the carpet was very stained. I understand that the policy is now to have certain rooms set apart when you are traveling with pets, but when you are given a room where it is obvious dogs have had "accidents" on the carpet your own dogs are drawn to those areas. I travel with my small dogs several times a year and I wish all hotels which allow pets would install vinyl flooring in the rooms so that guests don't have to deal with odors and obvious wear from other animals. In the future, I'm going to make sure that I only stay at hotels with vinyl flooring. Sounds petty but it is a big concern for me. My dogs are very good at using the bathroom outside in designated areas but again, they're only dogs, and they are attracted to evidence of other dogs."

"About thirty minutes after getting to my room, I went into the bathroom and sit down, and almost ended up in the bathtub. The toilette was not connected to the floor. The bathroom floor was completely flooded. I went down to the front desk and reported it. They didn't offer another room, and didn't have anyone available to come up and check it out. Their solution was to give me a handful of towels to sop it up with. I put them on the floor and, when I checked an hour later, they were floating on the floor. Water was still coming out. I went down to the desk again, and they told me they couldn't do anything about it. I was on the third floor, and had to use the public restroom in the lobby for my stay. They told me the next morning that I would be compensated $10 for not having access to my bathroom. I expected a full refund, and I believe anyone else would expect the same. It's been 10 days, and they still haven't even refunded the $10. I would have given them one star, but the continental breakfast was above average. I guess if I want a full refund, I should at least pay for the breakfast. I've stayed here before, so I guess I'm just disappointed with their resolution. No bathroom, no shower should equal no charge. Thanks for letting me vent a bit "

"Super outdated hotel. Needs a facelift and some remodel work. We had no hot water during our stay, and if you adjusted the temperature at all, the vents would make awful noises. Room had a weird smell. But, it slept us. We likely won’t return, but it sufficed."

"Wonderful trip! The staff was amazing and extremely helpful. I was happy with the valet service. They were very nice and efficient. The hotel is beautiful. Many spots to sit inside by the fireplace or outside. The room was beyond my expectations. Everything was spotless. The bathroom was clean and had a nice large shower. The bed was perfect. The balcony was the cherry on top. Gorgeous sunset views. A nice energy from downtown at night. Loved the record player in the room. There’s a nice vinyl shop across the street. Everything was so exquisitely finished and clean. The restaurant was divine. I loved everything there I tried. The waiters were very professional and attentive. I met several interesting and experienced waiters. I highly recommend staying at the Vandavort It’s a really lovely experience. It’s in downtown with lots of interesting shops and close proximity to the Convention Center."
