"We had a very comfortable stay at the Shangri-La. The room was really spacious, and we had a terrific view. The front desk and concierge staff were very gracious and helpful. Also, we had New Year’s Eve dinner at the hotel’s Shanghai Pavilion at the top of the hotel. Our waiter (who I think is the manager) helped us make our selections, and it was fantastic! The hotel is also attached to an upscale department store which is fun to visit. It The hotel is also across the street from the local train station. You can take a fairly short ride to Kaohsiung, which is a cool harbor town and perfect for a day trip."

They also offer paid class on how to make a local traditional pastry - puffed brown sugar pastry. I really enjoyed my stay. Tainan is a charming city. I will be back. "
