Okay, I won’t lie, I was a bit scared when I pulled into the driveway. The exterior is poorly rundown. I thought oh dear God, Bates Motel! But then I went in. The lobby was pleasant and the staff very sweet. Wish the ice machine was working…anyway. I didn’t read that the room I had was in the basement, nor that the three bathrooms downstairs were shared bathrooms. I almost reconsidered staying there but it was late and I didn’t have many other options.
I was pleasantly surprised by my room. It was very clean, had a small fridge, a space heater and a box fan, no A/C but the room was cool. The bathrooms were spacious and had a huge walk-in shower. The basement turned out to be just fine. I imagine it is like a hostel? Not that I really ever plan on going to Soda Springs again, but I’d possibly stay there again. It was all an adventure.
The Soda Springs Geyser was incredible!
The staff was super friendly, and helped us with our special request. We were in a downstairs room, very simple, comfortable but walls very thin and we were awakened multiple times at night. Shared bathroom was decently clean.

I always enjoy staying here as an alternative to staying at lava or as a stop over before heading up to Wayan. Staff always friendly and helpful, and the cabins are cute.
Rooms are nice but the floor was dirty. We may have carried it in but it seems like my feet got dirty walking around.

There wasn’t much offered with this booking: it was only a small, boxed room with no windows - furnished with only a TV, bed, and mini fridge. The bathrooms and showers are shared by all the guests, located down the hall. Pretty much as bare bones as hotels come. The place was clean though.
Very old, and not clean. Bed was not comfortable. Staff was great and left the key in the room and answered when I called late.

I saved a few bucks by renting a room with "shared bathroom." (Not knowing what to expect.) My room was downstairs; it was one of maybe 16 rooms, sharing two bathroom/shower rooms. There was NO outside light; there seemed to be a small window up near the ceiling, but it was covered with opaque material. (That was a bit uncomfortable... one way out.) No TV... no coffee machine... no plastic cups or ice bucket or soaps or shampoos... If all the rooms had been occupied, bathroom facilities may have become scarce; as it was, they told me there were only two other people. (That'll change as soon as HUNTING SEASON arrives, I'm sure!)
I'd probably stay there again, if I could save $15 or $20 over a more conventional motel room.
The manager is very cooperative for arranging a smooth late-night check in. Appreciate the way they coordinating between each shift to sure my keys are in my room.I highly recommend the place.

It’s very old, but the staff was great and even called and let us know we’d left something. For a small town with few options it was fine.
