"A true gem. This is my new go-to place for the first (and second) night in Cape Town. Most international flights arrive in the early morning and commercial downtown hotels do not let you check in before 3 pm. Most of us are exhausted. So make your way to Franschhoek against traffic and stop at some wineries on the way. Then rest at La Fontaine. Many fine restaurants within 0.5 miles. Lovely breakfast and exceptional service."

"Lovely people, comfortable, outside hottub was fab, breakfasts made to order, really large bathroom. The only thing was the tech which doesn't work and needs to be ditched. It's a gimmick which doesn't add to the experience- not pleasant having music in the room going on in the middle of the night having had no explanation of what to do to stop it. All in all though very much to be recommended."

"Nuwerus was one of the "fortunate" yet "unfortunate" places in Paarl that was "hit" hard with the recent fires. It was so close to the main buildings that I can only descibe it as hair-raising. Yet although you can see the fire damage to the gardens etc the service was once again spot-on and the facilities as clean and well appointed as we are used to. The owners really does care about the customers as well as the property. Well done is all I can say. Already booked my next stay."

"It was raining cats and dogs and walking into reception with the fire burning was quite enjoyable. Reception was a pleasure and seemless. Rooms clean and well appointed. Even with load-shedding the essentials were working and the Grill Room gave excellent meals including breakfast. The only "question" I have is why breakfast only starts at 8. Does result in coming late at the office. "

What proved extra special to us was the care and attention we received—tips, recommendations, reservations made on our behalf, and even suggestions for the remainder of our trip. " On arrival we were advised that there would be Eskom load shedding for 2hrs from 20:00, which is nothing unusual in SA. Most unusual was to discover that no provision had been made for the convenience of guests - lamps, torches or emergency generator supplies. Fortunately we had our own torches. This was the only negative occurrence, the proprty was spotlessly clean, breakfast appetising, staff helpful and the pool and garden inviting. "

"Upon arrival we realized this is not a farm but a little small holding. All units less than 15 feet from each other. A Large Barn is also right opposite the cottages where workers are staying. Drawers in kitchen not in good condition, small stove in a terrible condition. Dead ants in the cupboard. The Sunday morning the workers who stay in the barn opposite the cottages were painting and playing terrible and very loud music. This was not a nice Sunday morning on a farm. The music were turned...
