"Everything was really good! From the staff, room, mattress, pool & breakfast. Breakfast had bacon, sausage & eggs, you don't get that often. The room was clean and spacious. The mattress was a wonderful pillow top & pillows were comfy. Hotel is modern & well kept up. The pool was so nice after a hot day at the caverns, and sparkling clean. Only negative was not the hotel's fault. If you're there on a Sunday & Monday, know that many restaurants are closed. I struggled to find anything other than McDonald's open. Also, beware of parking next to the guests with big work trucks (there's many of them). My car got scratched. Overall, 10 out of 10. Thank you La Quinta!"

"Having lived in Carlsbad for 50 years, and returning for a quick visit, it was disappointing to see the outside maintenance has gone down so far. The Stevens was always immaculate and a desirable place to stay and dine."
