This was my first stayover in Shoshone, despite having passed through many dozens of times en route to Death Valley. Or Ash Meadows Wildlife Refuge, where I worked for a season. The remodel is quite pleasing. The new owner should be lauded for holding onto the humble Mojave desert vibe and MCM motor lodge motif that I remember from the late 70s-early 80s. The sole shortcoming to my visit came in the form of a near constant industrial noise, either within or directly outside my room. Reflexively, much needed sleep proved fleeting. Staff couldn't offer any explanation. At a room rate near that of Stovepipe Wells or Furnace Creek--within a National Park--the response should've been better than a shrug.
