"Breakfast was limited, no eggs, but sausage patties, very odd and no longer doing waffles or pancakes. The coffee was too watered down. In middle of day the coffee was cold and there was no hot water for tea. The staff should be checking these things. They need creamers by the coffee during the day and evenings. No creamers in the rooms. The kitchen had mismatched utensils in the room with 3 spoons and 4 knives and 4 forms. The chair in the room had holes in it, but otherwise the room was clean. My dog enjoyed the stay as well. Beds were comfortable."

"I took my 3 kids for a few days over spring break. It was an easy and beautiful path up to the beach. The indoor pool and indoor hot tub was a life saver as it was too cold to do anything else outside most of the time we were there. The front desk staff were super nice and the hotel continental breakfast was so convenient. "

"This is our second time staying at John Yancy. Its nothing fancy but it has a great breakfast with a beautiful gazebo to eat at if you choose. Staff is nice. My biggest complaint was the wifi connection at night. It kept buffering or disconnecting which made it frustrating with little ones. "

"Some activities cancelled. Beach accessibility was more than adequate. Nature trail blocked. Playground not nearly as pictured. Bar closed & apparently dismantled (during NCAA finals). Pool closed (literally 7 min after we had gotten in) and stayed closed for duration. Same with hot tub. Same with lazy river. Same with splash park (but they were running the whole time). Trash piled up on room and common entryways for hours. Open sewer in at least one common walkway. Exposed electrical wire across walkway, uncovered; appeared to have been there a while. Rooms were fairly acceptable. Only a broken shower door latch and paper thin walls to complain about within. Oh and the common area fire extinguisher for our particular building was inspected most recently June of 2021."

"The breakfast met expectations. Friendly staff in kitchen. Room was very clean and comfortable with the exception of all the banging putting up molding. Front desk clerks need customer service training. Came in exhausted and asked to get in our room early. Was told I could not check in until 4pm. Two guys walked in, they were checked in and given the keys to their room. When I questioned the clerk I was told that was not what I saw. The black clerk was laughing and flirting with the two guys. Acting as if I weren’t even standing there. Another clerk came to the desk and told her to let us check in that the room was ready. I was being treated very unfairly. I have stayed at this property several times before but this was my last. Never no more."

"The floor in the room was sticky to walk on if walking in socks they werevery dirty after walking in the room. The room had a funky smell in it as well. I bought lysol and sprayed all over all surfaces and beds helped some. Have stayed here a few years ago and the hotel has seemed to go down hill."

"This is how we spent our first 15hrs at The Sea Ranch where they can care less about their customers! When we checked into our room the tv didn’t cut on. They send someone and he cuts the power on. We proceed to go to dinner and when we came back to the room the tv was completely froze and nothing worked. The person they sent to look at it said it was an internal issue and that they would have to move us to a different room all the way across to the other side and on the 4th floor at 11pm! So we pack up with 2 kids who were in pajamas and in bed already about to go to sleep. We pack everything we just unpacked a couple hours prior. I then received a text at 9am that we need to be out of the room by 11am and we had to move all the way back to our original room. The Manager on duty was not willing to work with me at all and was very rude stating we had to be out by 11am! Well we went to bed after 1am because we went into the room and unpacked for the 2nd time at 11pm the night before so they could not even sleep in on Day 1 of our vacation. So then we proceeded to pack up AGAIN and I asked for a refund at that point because I refuse to give The Sea Ranch Resort my hard earned money! So here we were within 15hrs of arriving in Nags Head “to start our family vacation” we had to scramble and find another place to stay for the rest of the week. This was the worst experience we have EVER HAD ON ANY VACATION! THE ONLY RECOMMENDATION I HAVE IS NOT TO STAY HERE!"

"The check in took a while as rooms were not ready. But once we received our room key we were surprised at the size of our room. Comfy bed, balcony and a huge bathroom. The access to the beach was great and we watched the sunrise on both days we were there. The property was busy but Shawn at the front desk was great and helpful. Overall a great relaxing stay - will be back."
