"Great location, disappointing stay (Room 129) The hotel is in a fantastic location right on the High Street and looks lovely from the outside. The bar area is nice, and the staff were friendly and welcoming on arrival. However, the experience quickly became underwhelming. The hotel feels tired throughout, stairs and carpets need refurbishing, and the lift is very small and dated. While it’s an older building, it lacks upkeep. We stayed in Room 129, which was bland and lacked character, with plain décor. The carpets needed cleaning, especially in corners. The bathroom was small and a bit dingy. The bed was extremely soft and uncomfortable, with an uneven feel. The TV was mounted crooked, and the curtains didn’t block out light properly. The net curtain looked grey and unclean. Breakfast was the biggest disappointment. Aside from self-service coffee and cereal, everything (even toast) had to be ordered, leading to delays and a frustrating experience, one of the worst hotel breakfasts I’ve had. Overall, while the staff were pleasant and the location is excellent, the hotel feels worn and didn’t meet expectations. Unfortunately, I wouldn’t return."

"Room nice overlooking the lake area………..hotel now looking a bit old and tired……nice to sit outside around the decking overlooking the lake with a nice meal…….the problem with that was two local rats looking for scraps…..but what can you do it’s a countryside hotel ……still a nice place to stay and only 20 mins from brands hatch"

"The property Iis v very well kept. The areas are very clean. Rooms are comfortable. Close to city centre and convenient . The staff is very cordial, respectful and friendly. Bar area is nice and breakfast menu is good. Definitely would come back for another stay."

"On entering the hotel we immediately noticed the unkempt borders and dirty glass on the doors. The courtyard, which could have been lovely, was overgrown with weeds and dirty benches. Charged for the car park which was a rough piece of land! The room was very tired with missing handles on drawers, thin duvet and un- ironed, well used bedding. The bathroom had had a bit of a makeover but the mixer tap had no control and the water went from freezing to boiling!! Very dangerous and no warning given. The floor tiles were marked and unclean. Towels clean but old Breakfast was ‘on the go’, in a bag with a choice of a tuna melt or cheese and onion toasted - not exactly a breakfast.Poor wifi too. Extremely disappointing stay overall and we are easy going people are never ones to ever complain!! It definitely needs a HUGE makeover!!"
