"This place is cute and quaint, and the location is perfect - walkable to everything in the main "village" area. The rooms are unique (I peaked inside a few) and homey, and there are many lovely common areas such as outdoor seating and a wraparound porch. It was calm and quiet despite being fully booked, and when we did run into other guests it felt like we were all friends staying together. "
"We thoroughly enjoyed our stay at this cute hotel. Our room was clean, comfortable and quiet. I would definitely recommend anyone stay here if given the chance."
"The Rosario Resort seems to have fallen on hard times. While we liked the seaside setting and the cute little boat marina, the rest of the facilities looked abandoned or neglected. The two-story building we stayed in was well maintained, but we hardly saw anyone (other guests or staff) during our 2 night stay. We also discovered that the museum and restaurant are closed for renovations. Again, nothing unpleasant if you like secluded places but the whole thing had kind of weird vibe."

"Beautiful view of the water. Nice big room with comfy king bed, fridge and spa tub. Had to get the king suite for a pet. Breakfast average. Walkable/easy drive to the ferry. Front desk staff are fantastic! Helped make the room change on the phone, even though I booked through Expedia, and when there the front desk person came to the room to help with the fireplace, and the heat."
"Started in the John Wayne suite. Very pleasant, good bed and great bathroom. A bit of noise from the windows onto nearby walkaways, but not enough to be disturbing"
"it was a very clean, updated little motel love the fact that there is a little snack shop and you could even get a beer or wine downstairs if you want to do TV channels were excellent all around just a really great place"
"Very clean older property. It was nicely maintained and had a ton of space for the three of us. It was like we had out own apartment. Very walkable to shops and restaurants."
"The Orca Inn is a great place to stay, as long as you understand where you are staying and as long as you determine ahead of time that it meets your needs
The Orca Inn is not fancy. If you want luxury then book a luxury hotel (and pay luxury rates). The Orca Inn may not be fancy but it is fun, clean, quirky, and the staff are friendly and responsive. It’s not on the waterfront but it’s a pretty easy walk to get there. Maybe 15 minutes?
A lot of the negative reviews I have seen are really frustrating because the Orca Inn is very transparent and upfront about what it is. It is a great option for people on a budget who want to experience San Juan Island. It works for me because I am a very active traveler and I don’t spend all day lounging in my room. I wake up, explore the island all day, and come back to my room to shower and sleep. In the morning there is complimentary coffee available in the office so I drink my coffee and set off for the day. There is not a restaurant on site but there are plenty in the area and my room had a little fridge for leftovers
In summary it’s a fun quirky motel with a fascinating history. If you book a room, pay attention to what you are reserving and make sure it meets your needs"
