Der Pfaffenberg, hier von der Leuchtenburg aus gesehen, liegt im Naturschutzgebiet Nr. 174 "Dohlenstein und Pfaffenberg". Gleichzeitig befindet er sich im Landschaftsschutzgebiet Nr. 104 "Saaletal in den Fluren Göschwitz bis Kahla" (WDPA: 345190) und im FFH-Gebiet mit der EU-Nr. 5135-301 "Dohlenstein und Pfaffenberg".

NB the evening I was there the restaurant was closed for a rpivate function, which meant walking 20mins or getting the bus back into town to find a restaurant.
