"Amazing place! Staff is extremely friendly, Andrea and Lucia are super nice and attentive. I would definitely recommend this place to anyone with my eyes closed."
"I really liked that there was everything you could need to be comfortable. You can tell there is someone considerate behind the administration. There was abundant drinking water, teas and coffee, water boiler, cups, etc in the common area. In the bathroom, shower cap, soap, and other amenities, enough towels for all the guests (this is not always the case). The family room was great with two rooms and ac in each one. Wifi worked well and the owner is super nice. Breakfast was simple but...
"If you’re looking for a truly unique and memorable experience. I highly recommend staying at Casale di Maria in Matera. Domenica goes above and beyond with her attentive and welcoming service. She offers great tips on getting around town, where to go, and the best restaurants to try. It was an unforgettable stay - unlike any other hotel I’ve visited."
"Staying at this hotel was one of the most memorable occasions! The staff was great, the room we stayed in was truly awesome; we would do that again! "
"I have been traveling for 5 months and this hotel was by far my favorite! I was blown away by the attention to detail, the powerful ritual and symposium and the incredible heated pool surrounded by replicas of goddesses. The couples’ massage was wonderful and the staff and experience couldn’t have been better. Mindblowingly great! We loved it! "
"Had a great and cosy 2 night stay. The rooms are super unique. Easy to get to with a taxi from the bus station. Very friendly and welcoming staff, would stay here again."
"Would give it six stars! Great people, brilliant rooms in the Sassi, breakfast was generous and efficient. The view over to the duomo in Matera is awesome. Would recommend. Would come back in a heartbeat

"A very special place - both the accommodations and the main reception and dining areas. Worth the money for a once-in-a-lifetime cave experience.
The staff was lovely and really elevated a great stay to exceptional. Antonio, the manager, was brimming with enthusiasm for his city and the hotel, sharing history of both. He recommended the fantastic Osteria al Casale restaurant on the cliffside for dinner which served excellent food and was nicely away from the hordes. Maristella is as sweet as she is adorable. So helpful and gracious.
The included breakfast was ample and there was quite a variety, from savory options to pastries. The dining room is stunning. Loved it!
We stayed in the family apartment which exceeded expectations. The main room is spacious even with sofa bed opened. There is a separate sitting area with another sofa and coffee table which was very useful. The sofa bed was comfortable and big enough for two teens to fit comfortably. The master bedroom was roomy and the bed super comfortable. It was only missing a full length mirror. Adding a barn door on the master bedroom to provide privacy from kids staying in the main area would be a bonus. There is also a kitchenette with refrigerator in the apartment.
The bathroom is modern and functional. The shower is small so I shared with the manager that a shelf is needed to hold shampoo/soap. This is really the only critique on an otherwise magical place. Highly recommend. "
"This is one of the coolest places I’ve ever stayed. If you have difficulty with stairs, you may want to look elsewhere, but if no mobility issues, you must stay here! It’s incredible!"
"The room was very clean and exactly what we wanted as it felt. We were staying in one of the caves in great location to wonder of an admire the city."
"I loved Matera and this place!! It was a magical place!! Breakfast and service were superb!! They help me transport my luggage so that I don’t have to walk with it through rocky roads. "
