Art Hotel Orologio

10/10 Excellent

"We loved this beautiful little hotel just a few steps from the main square. Have stayed at Orologio in Florence which was even nicer, but this is a great little hotel. Wonderful included breakfast, excellent facilities. Rooms and public areas very clean and well maintained, very helpful staff. Driving to this hotel was...a lot of fun...through challenging narrow one-way 'streets' that were often little more than pedestrian alleys, but we made it...and they had a loading zone spot right out front. The hotel gave us an overnight parking tag to put on the dash for 16 Euros, in an open lot right next to a very large and busy police station. So very, very safe and convenient parking only 150m from the hotel. The room was fairly narrow and would be considered compact by American standards, but was a beautiful, gorgeous room with huge fully-opening windows to the square down below. Very nice bath and shower, great water pressure, and even a little sitting area. Very friendly and helpful staff, great breakfast and dining area, huge breakfast selection including mimosas and hot items. This hotel is worth every penny and then some, we loved it. Pics show room, view from room, hotel itself, and sights. Location was perfect, easy walking to all the markets and restaurants and shops. We greatly enjoyed Rosa Rose for lunch and Osteria Angolo degli Orefici for dinner, enjoying outdoor dining and Bologna street culture at both. Stay at Art Hotel Orologio and fall in love with Bologna!"

LVG Hotel Collection - Principe

8/10 Good

"This hotel was very clean, modern, and efficient, with helpful and kind staff and a unique location. The positives were the cleanliness, modern design and newer furnishings/room decor, the cost was very reasonable, and the hotel was easy to find while driving. Negatives were breakfast was not included, parking was public street parking if you could find it (although the hotel only charged 9 Euros overnight for the tag we put in the windscreen), and the public areas of the hotel were rather drab / uninteresting. We were relatively close to the Enzo Ferrari museum and local dining options, but a bit of a walk from the city center and our dinner restaurant. We even got to enjoy some political protests on the day of our arrival, very near the hotel. When in Modena... Most of our hotels were exciting enough for me to want to take pictures of our room, the facility, etc. The fact that I completely forgot to take any pictures of this one says something. It's a good, solid, clean, decent, modernist-ish hotel that does the job and for a great price. Just not as memorable as the other Italian hotels we enjoyed across 12 days and 7 cities while in country. It's the VW diesel estate/wagon of Modena hotels. See the photos I've uploaded...in addition to Zamian Piccola Osteria and Lambruscheria Modena...what's in the photos is what was memorable about Modena."

Hotel Porta San Mamolo

10/10 Excellent

"A beautiful hotel with excellent service and spotlessly clean throughout the entire property. The breakfast room was beautiful, a little haven with greenery all around and peaceful surroundings. A good choice of foods on offer. The room was spacious and modern with traditional touches. Especially loved the shutters outside the windows for full darkness at night. There was a little noise on the street during the night but nothing too bad as generally it is a very secluded and quiet street. The restaurant opposite was lovely too and location fab with just a 10-15 min walk to centre of the city and a 10 minute walk to the beautiful park. We stayed with our two young children and felt so well accommodated and looked after by all hotel staff."
