This is a good property in the heart of the historic district of Sarlat. We had great support from Valentin and Clois when we were there. The room was in the attic with a small kitchenette, which we used for breakfast 2 of the days that we were there. We needed a property with a garage and booked one with them. What we did not realize that this was a several minute walk from the property itself. There also was no convenient place to bring up the car to unload luggage since there was a fair going on. Once we parked in the garage successfully, we had to haul our luggage ourselves from the garage to the hotel and then up 3 flights of spiral stairs to our room.

The location in a neighborhood of medieval stone houses and cobblestone stairways and walkways inaccessible by car was quite memorable. The check-in did not go smoothly.

Wonderful property close to everything. It has a historic look from the stone walls and wooden ceiling beams. Loved our gite room that allowed us to cook and had a wonderful view.

In theheart of historical Sarlat.Beautiful Bit for people with disability, access to the hotel by steep hill and barrow stairs to access rooms. Would be nice to have soneone at the reception after five.

Beautiful city and this is a great place to stay. We had a major problem with our rental car and Property Manager, Valentine was so helpful. His English is excellent and he is very caring. He salvaged our trip for us. Great breakfast also.

The staff was so kind and helpful, very clean and comfortable and cute, great location with lots of restaurants and cafes and shops are only 1 min walk. Car park is about 5min walk as it's located in an alley so it can be a bit tricky with big suitcases but the walk to the car park is easy and nice as there are many shops along the way. Highly recommended and will go back again!

Nice place, good location, tough find
Rick Steves recommends this apartment, and once we were there, it’s easy to see why. Sophie gave us good suggestions for activities. Our room was large, but we did have loud upstairs neighbors, enjoying the night life into late hours. Also, be aware that there are three streets to have in mind when arriving Sarlat. First is the street where the parking garage is located. Take the advice in the email they will send you, and park there immediately on arrival. But also be aware the “little door” is a personnel sized door next to a large double-wide garage door. You will use a code to get through the little door, and then find the button that raises the garage door. Then there is the “main drag” through town that fronts the apartment. Very tough to find parking, which is why you may not want to plan on stopping right near the apartment to unload luggage. Only try it if you have several large bags. If you have a carry-on size and a purse or backpack, garage it first. And then the third “street” really isn’t a street you can drive on. It’s up a ramp just off the main drag. You walk up the ramp and through a gate to get to the office. We tried using Google maps in our phones to walk from the garage to the office and it got us lost. Look for the ramp off the main drag.

The hotel sits above the medieval town 0f Sarlat and dates back to the 13th Century era - but considerably modernized. We loved our week-long stay at the hotel and the region; missing it when we returned home.

This is a very nice small hotel in an historic building in the historic centre of Sarlat. The staff were very helpful. The only fault was you had to walk up several stairs to reach your room so this could be a problem for mobility restricted people.

The most central location, spacious clean rooms and helpful staff. We had the best space with a balcony overlooking the Main Street but no noise. We are able to see the market being set up on a Wednesday. A bit of a short walk uphill to the hotel entrance on cobblestones. Check with the hotel if you have mobility issues. Parking is in a secured garage approx 7 mins walking distance away for a fee.

Sophie was a delight and the apartment with the tiny kitchen was a pleasure. It was cool while we were there, but the A/c was great for those of us used to it. The attention to detail, the quality furnishings, and accessibility to the town was our favorite of the 5 hotels we stayed in this trip

My stay at Villa des Consuls was amazing. Sophie, the receptionist, was incredibly kind and helpful. She helped get me in contact with the correct people to get into a historical building unavailable to the public. I stayed in the topmost room “Fenelon”. There are plenty of outlets, hit water, and plenty of room. Be prepared to lug your luggage around a few medieval streets. It’s so worth it though.

We enjoyed a very spacious and comfortable room at La Villa des Consuls. The staff was so wonderful, and made us feel right at home, with helpful information and suggestions, easy check in and out, and a great breakfast. Totally safe and secure private covered parking and very easy to stroll to shops, cafes, restaurants, Sarlat morning market and just exploring the beautiful city.

The hotel is unstaffed for various periods of time durning the day. It took us some time to contact the person remotely on duty to provide us with the gate code so we could at least drop our luggage. The lane into the hotel is very narrow. Best to park on the street and haul your bags down to the hotel.

Dear Sir , I thank you very much for your comment , this is the opportunity to tell our futur customers that we are not an hotel . We are working pretty much like it is but our reception is opened from 8 am to 12 am and from 3 pm to 7 pm . Bed sheets and towels are provided, not the daily cleaning , we do not have restaurant for lunch or dinner but we do the breakfast . Regarding the location , La Villa is located inside the medieval city ( first construction in the 13th century ) that is why the lanes are very narrow , the best is to park around it or in our private car park 250 m from La Villa We try to our best to make our customers happy and it was a pleasure to welcome you Mark , hope to see you again !

Thank you for your review. La Villa des Consuls is not a hotel reason why the reception is not open 24h/24. During the hours midday, we must finish the cleaning of rooms and apartments to prepare the check-in of the afternoon but all guests can call us with internal direct line for an assistance.

Good location
Difficult to locate, directions could be a little more detailed. Breakfast was limiting. The property is historically old, but has been beautifully reformed, with spacious bedroom and bathroom. Someone with mobility issues may have struggled with the stairs to our room. It's location in the old town is perfect for sightseeing & restaurants.

SCAM ALERT
Villa des Consults refused us entry to our room in our guaranteed pre-paid reservation and kept our money. We booked a 2-night stay, and when we arrived, the hosts were not there during their posted business hours. We called and they came about 10 minutes later as we waited outside, and they yelled at us incessantly as they approached. The yelling did not cease, and they continued to tell us they cancelled our reservation and were obstinate to any reason. I hoped to minimize emotional damage to my wife and child and told the hosts "Enough", if they wouldnt give us our room, we would find one somewhere else. Not worth the fight. I thought, later on, of course they will refund our money. They didn't. The entire experience tainted and ultimately spoiled our stay in Sarlat-la-Caneda. We had to spend extra time to find a hotel at the last minute, and the unprecedentedly rude treatment was quite jarring. These people are not professional in the least. Add to that how hard they were to reach afterwards when us and our booking agency tried to call them, they are only open a couple hours of the day and still then often aren't there during their posted business hours. It is a shame because we had such a wonderful trip throughout many other towns and accommodations across France. I recommend France, the Dordogne Valley, and even Sarlat - but steer clear of this bait and switch.

Center of old city therefore difficult to get to the Hotel but that is always the case If you want to be close to the interesting. Part of the city you will have to put up with the inconvenience of reaching the place ,parking etc The hotel is located in the middle of the steep walk to downtown so if you have problems with climbing this is not the hotel for you otherwise it is absolutly charming and wonderful

Great location in the old part of Sarlat just a minute or so from the main street and a few minutes from restaurants bars etc. Have off site under cover parking just 4 mins walk away which is well worth 6€ a day. Hosts are efficient
