Great location for the beach which is a 5-10 minute walk away. The room was big a bit basic but the kitchenette was a nice addition. Basically nothing wrong but not anything to get excited about.
Check in and check out was another matter. Our taxi dropped us off and we entered the big lobby area which is precisely what you’d expect from a 4 star hotel. Except for one thing, there was no one there the words zombie apocalypse come to mind. We eventually found a security guard who directed us to a building across the road, the big building which actually had the name of the hotel on it seems to have closed down, no real explanation. Anyway we finally find reception and begin check in. This took far longer than it should. I’ve been in china for 3 years so am used to check in taking a bit longer since there are a few more checks but it still took about 40 minutes, the big issue is that reception isn’t inside an enclosed space, it’s a bit hard to describe but the salient fact is there is no air con and it was in the high 30s.We were then told that the booking team weren’t in so we would have to pay 800rmb deposit which we would get back the next day when they could check the booking. I’ve never come across this before and couldn’t understand how she couldn’t just look up our booking on the system but after 40 minutes in the sweat box we were desperate and just paid admittedly we got it back but it was a ridiculous situation. Similarly check out took over 1/2 hour
