"Amazing location right across from Santa Cruz main beach! Coming from Australia to visit for the first time and so glad we chose Marea Sol. Beautifully renovated - everything is clean, modern and high quality. Spanish charm to the architecture of the place but it was the staff, especially the legend of a manager Katrina, who made our stay so fun and special. We had a luxury double room and it was so comfortable and spacious with everything we needed. Balcony looked out to the beach and there was also a huge rooftop balcony with the best breeze and views to eat and drink at, which we loved. Parking on site, a great pool area to relax by and coffee shop on site for a lovely brew. Incredible value especially for the location which was only a five minute walk to the iconic Broadwalk. Katrina had so much energy and positive vibes with great local knowledge and recommendations which really elevated our stay. Wouldn't stay anywhere else in Santa Cruz! Can't wait to return 🏄🎢"

"Over all GREAT location. Super close to pretty much everything. If you need a place to sleep/ park Shower and hold your cold breverages this is it. Your a 4 mins walk to the boardwalk and 4- 6 min walk to in town breakfast spots. For the price you can beat it if your not looking to spend your vacation in your room lol. Who is? Very strick on 3 pm check in. So get there at 2:55 and park and wait at the door! Enjoy!"

"Although the location was amazing I would not stay here ever again . I booked it because I read a lot of good reviews which makes me wonder how . Our toilet was clogged we had to plunge several times , AC did not work ( the maintenance guy tried and he stated they are old units they don’t work well ) and the TV sucked could not get clear picture so we didn’t watch TV and fridge was on but was not cold didn’t even chill our drinks . As we were leaving a lady was walking to office pissed because her plumbing was also messed up . The lady at the front counter said make sure you leave us a review , well here is my review . Sad because it is a great location literally one block from boardwalk."

"Pros: spacious with two rooms, bathroom in the middle separating them. Easy access to the boardwalk, quiet. Cons: needs major updates, furniture, bed and carpet all worn. Bathroom paint was bubbling in spots, dust on paneling and the air conditioning units are ancient. With updates, could be a great spot, but I’d rather stay a bit farther from Boardwalk for a comfortable bed and amenities."

"Attention!!!!! Be aware of this property!!!!! Last weekend my family & I stayed in this hotel, when we arrived the check in was easy and everything was going well. The room was so dirty, not well cleaned, left over used toilet paper, the doors were stain of makeup and some type of orange sticky food, could be Cheetos, the walls were all dirty and the certain was full of dryed ice cream from days before. That’s not it there is more! Friday afternoon we got some dinner sat in the patio where there is tables and chair, and a person first asked how to get a hold of front desk and we told him where to go, he then came back and ask for a water bottle, left to his room and came back downstairs and sat in the patio, he started mentioning all the types of drugs he was selling and also that he was hiding from the cops!!!! When this was heard I didn’t feel comfortable I try to get a hold of the front desk for hours and no answer no reply, until the next day and still didn’t want to give my money back!!!!! Will not stay here again, this was my 2nd time staying in this hotel and 1st time didn’t have a problem but this time it was unacceptable, I will not be staying here and if you have small kids be aware because this hotels approves a lot of drug dealers to walk in and out of the property. Is a very nice place but will not be staying here ever. Be aware!!!!! Always read the reviews!!!!!"

"There was no hot water, and when we informed the receptionist she said to run the tap for 15 minutes. That didn’t work AND the shower head was totally broken from the wall so we had to hold it while attempting to bathe ourselves. The light socket was falling off the wall, which is a serious electrical code issue, and the cable box for the TV was hanging from the cords to the TV. A very run down place, and the receptionist was unfriendly and had no sympathy about our hot water. Very disappointed when paying almost $300 for the room!!"
