A balcony with a table set for breakfast, overlooking the sea.

Grand Hotel Torre Fara

Chiavari

10/10 Excellent

Mario

An indoor swimming pool with stone walls and plants.

Hotel Due Mari

Centro Storico

10/10 Excellent

Very traditional Italian seaside hotel, in a great location next to the Bay de Silencio. Very attentive service and staff, great breakfast options and generous rooms. Sestre Levante is close to the villages in Cinque Terra but has a completely different feel, more Italian tourists seem to stay here and it has great restaurant options. Of the various Ligurian seaside towns we have visited we like this place probably the best.

Johannes

A swimming pool with a hot tub, surrounded by a building with balconies and outdoor seating.

Hotel Monte Rosa

Chiavari

10/10 Excellent

Lovely hotel in a beautiful small town. Breakfast was great, staff were very friendly and helpful - sorting us out with a booking at the nearby beach club and providing timetables so we could take a boat trip to Portofino. The pool area was a perfect size and well looked after, as were we! Our family room was spacious and well laid out, and we had the use of a private terrace. So many little touches made this hotel extra special for our family holiday. We highly recommend it!

Lindsay

A modern lounge area with wicker furniture, large windows offering a view of a coastal town and water.

Hotel Miramare & Spa

Centro Storico

10/10 Excellent

Very friendly and helpful staff. They will send a car to pick you up from the station (you don't need to pre-book - we just rang when we arrived). Our first room was very nice, smallish with a good shower, good pressure with stable temperature, though cubicle was tiny. However, the room overlooked the street and was very noisy - there were recycling bins outside where neighbouring restaurants tipped their glassware late at night and that were collected early morning. So we were moved to an attic...

A balcony with a table and chairs, overlooking a beach with umbrellas and a parking lot.

A coastal town with a marina, palm trees, and a clear blue sky.

Hotel Astoria Rapallo

Rapallo

10/10 Excellent

Perfectly placed at the end of the seafront, the Astoria is small and very welcoming. Rapallo town centre is a short walk away as is the railway station. On arrival we were welcomed by Alessandro and Sara who were the perfect hosts. Nothing was too much trouble and we had a fantastic week. The room, though not huge, was very comfortable and spotlessly clean. The breakfast buffet was varied and ample for us. Highly recommended.

Richard

A boat on a turquoise sea with a historic building and a rocky shoreline in the background.

Splendido Mare, A Belmond Hotel, Portofino

Portofino

10/10 Excellent

Philip

A restaurant with a long table set for dining, large windows offering a view of the city, and a decorative plant centerpiece.

SPLENDIDE RIVIERA

Rapallo

10/10 Excellent

We have stayed at many hotels over the years in Rapallo but this is by far the best. When we arrived check in was so easy and the staff were friendly and helpful and showed us to our room while my car was taken away to the garage. The bedroom was clean and well set out with coffee machine etc. and a good supply of cold water. Bathroom spotless and with everything you needed. Breakfast was plentyfull and with a wide choice including hot food cooked to order not getting cold in trays. Throughout...

A coastal hotel with multiple balconies overlooking the sea, a stone facade, and a view of the surrounding hillside.

Hotel Cenobio Dei Dogi

Karen

A modern house with a swimming pool, stone facade, and large windows.

Hotel Continental

Santa Margherita Ligure

10/10 Excellent

Very much enjoyed our week's stay at The Continental. We had a nice sea view room on the second floor with a small balcony. The outlook from this hotel across its beautiful gardens across the bay at Santa Marg. is outstanding whether from the room or having a drink on the terrace. Staff are very pleasant and helpful. Great breakfast on the terrace every morning and short walk down the hill to the charming town. So much better than overrated Portafino. Only negative we had was that the hotel sun...
