The only reason this isn't a full five stars is the more rural location means a bit more travel time to reach — but that's also part of what makes the Douro so peaceful and worth visiting. Everything from the amazing awe-inspiring views, to the helpful, friendly and lovely staff, to the beautiful rooms (we stayed in Amarela 24 and it was gorgeous), to the delicious and highend food and wine, we were blown away. We will stay here again but only longer. The pools are perfect and we felt so relaxed. The winery is outstanding. I can’t say enough good things. We loved it here! Thank you especially to Sophia for her wonderful service at the front desk and with the winery tour."
