About an hour's drive from Auckland, Muriwai is another great beach to visit on a day trip from Auckland. It’s a great place to go surfing and boogie boarding, and also has a large colony of gannets who congregate on the rocks. Bring a picnic or head to Sand Dunz up the road for some takeaways and ice cream.

"The room was beautiful, as was the whole BnB. The hosts were wonderful and so accommodating and gave us suggestions on places of interest. Braemar is on the historic register and is full of beautiful antiques and interesting paintings and books to peruse. It is in an excellent location, being in the city center and close to the harbor and ferry. Breakfast was delicious and the overall ambiance is wonderful.
