The property was old, dirty, and poorly maintained. The outside area was not clean, with broken path tiles, lots of trash, and sewer odors. There was no power or water for a day, and there was no immediate communication or resolution provided. However, the Expedia team was incredibly helpful and provided a couple of options. I would not choose to stay there again and would not recommend it to anyone. It's worth paying a bit more to stay somewhere else.

We liked the convenience to the beach and room size. Did not like the room necessities, very limited and not useable conditions. Reception person only there from 8 to 4 where you were able to access the water bottle or mention issues. Attentive to service requests but 4 out the 7 days we had workers in room fixing things. Dogs in the back barking alot. Construction also going on around our building. Breakfast only had 3 options and not always 3 available. Restaurant not always open on time.

There were several issues with this property: the property is in very poor condition, it is not kept up, falling apart, staff was not available during the day or night, none was available to answer questions or take care of maintenance issues, I could t get clean towels for five days, Boone cleaned my room for seven days. I do not recommend this property.

Enjoy our stay here, only thing I would have to complain about is that the pool was shut down and the WiFi was not really working.. other than that great location, I had a panoramic view room and the view was breathtaking! I will definitely stay here again with no doubt!!

Good location, huge room, nowhere to sit on deck, asked for chairs, didn’t get any, there 6 nights asked on night 5 if we needed anything, a little late. Nowhere to hang wet towels or bathing suits, overall felt very neglected.

First time in Roatan and I’m so glad I stayed at Coconut after days of researching places. Franco at the front desk was great and personable. Felt like we were in a tropical paradise at home! Always made sure our room was clean, breakfast ready and even our laundry done! Don’t think twice, stay here there are lots of things to do. Great wifi, very cold AC and amazing showers! 10/10.

This place was the worst place we have ever stayed. Woke up to cockroaches in our bed (3 different times), our toilet never flushed, shower water was always cold, sheets on bed were filthy, had no wash cloths on property - to name a few issues. The structure of the property looked like it was falling apart. Cracks and rebar seen throughout. The restaurant has a 3 lobster tails for $17 deal one night. Worst lobster we have ever had. The beef fajitas were chewy and tasted awful - inedible. Never ate there again. Total disappointment.

Clean place and affordable but the toilet worked very poorly, didn’t ever want to flush. Also they crank the AC and lock the thermostat so you cannot get to it. Also had people knocking on our door at 1AM, kind of scary.

It is sometimes hard to monitor everything in a hotel and if we had known you were having any issues, we would certainly have a repair man come and take care of that for you. Check in was terrible, we have to wait for more than one hour to someone show up to give us the room key, we didn’t have room service, the was one electrical outlet completely out of the box making it unsafe to charge ours phones or any other device.

Hello , Aljejandro and thank you for your commnets. Actually we do post a check in time for all guests, and you came after the office was closed without any notice that you were coming late. When we know a guest is coming late, we set up the keys for the cabins with our security guard and he is happy to take you to the cabin. As to the outlet, we do apologize however, the outlet was fine upon check in so there was damage to that outlet. We were not told regarding the damage and did not see until after you left. If you had alerted the office, they would have happily had that outlet fixed for you. Thank you Coconut Tree West Bay

There was no hot water to start (which they did fix). Our room was so dark that you had to use your phone light to see things clearly at night. They just said tomorrow we will look at it TOMORROW. The shower door would not close. They did not clean the room until asked. There was a hair dryer stuck to the bathroom wall but no outlet to use it. The bathroom door was so hard to close and open. The WiFi was not working the entire time we were there.

Hello, We apologize for any inconvenience you may have had. If they sky is dark with rain and clouds, it does mek the room a bit darker. If you had asked we could have added another lamp for you if the light was a problem. We apologize. The maids do clean the rooms cabin daily. If for some reason you were skipped, all you would need to do is to tell the desk office manager and he would see to it to make sure the room cabin was cleared for you. As the the hair dryer, those were added and hard wired into the lines, so you do not need a plug for their electricity. They do work by just turning on and are not plugged into a reguar outlet. The main and pretty much only wifi provided for Roatan, Max Communications, lines were all down for quite some time. The lines run under the sea to the island fromt he mainland. The internet was down, yes, and we certainly do apologize, however, we cannot control the operation of the primary internet company. the whole island was down until the internet company fixed their underwater cable lines. we do have in spite of these problems, that you did enjoy the beautiful beach and the sea. We are always happy to hear from guests to correct any issues they are having and to be able to improve our guests' stay. Thank you Coconut Tree Roatan

We took a chance on this property even though the reviews we read were not great. We were very pleased with cabin where we stayed. It was spacious and clean and bright. We expected a small bar fridge and it was actually almost the size of an apartment fridge. The daily included breakfast was simple but tasty and we had 3 choices: omelette, typical breakfast or pancakes with eggs and sausage. You could have orange juice or coffee. We had a nice covered deck with a partial ocean view even though our booking stated garden view so that was a nice surprise. We were in cabin 1. The security guard was super friendly and the beach staff and front desk staff were also very friendly. This property is a short walk to a small grocery story and many restaurants. The only negative was that the water in the shower ranged from cool to almost luke warm. We spent 4 nights and other than the temperature of the tap and shower water we were very pleased with the value for the money.

We had our own cabin which was spacious for our family of 3. It was a great location right near the pool and the hotel is right on the beach. The beds were too soft for us and hurt our backs. The room had 2 double beds and they were too small for us. We would have preferred queen or king. There is no hot water for showering. We ended up showering by the pool a couple times because we were at least in the sun then. There was a kitchen in the room but it was not very well stocked and the dishes that were there were rusty and dirty. My husband put his hand on the glass block on the top of the shower area and it broke off. The air conditioning broke but they fixed it right away. On site handy man was very quick. The office is not always open but when the staff was there they were friendly and very helpful.

Was told that check-in was at 3PM, showed up around 4:45PM and the front office was locked and empty. We had to talk to an employee of a nearby hotel to get in contact with the manager and about an hour later someone from another hotel came and was able to give us a room key. Then the manager texted me letting me know that we had to move rooms the next day. The next room we stayed in had two beds, but only one of those beds had a blanket. We went down to the main office multiple times and different times of day to ask for another blanket and there was never anyone there to help. The soap dispenser in the shower was either empty or didn't work. Will not be staying here again.

Thank you for bringing this issue to our attention. We do now have in place a system for later arriving guests to get checked into their cabins. We have also discussed the soap dispense and blankets with our maid employees, asking them to please check each time to make sure that all is provided for our guests. The office is often around the property assisting guests, but normally in the office most of the office hours. We apologize that they did not seem to be present when you went to the office. This is not normally a problem. Thank you again.

The only thing that I like about this property was the location of my reservation,my first complaint was my room was switched from 3 bed room to one king bed room the only thing they did was to give me a mattress to put in the floor,the shower did not have anything body wash or shampoo,we needed it to ask the front office for what was need to use the pool and tickets for our breakfast when he should it give us all that when we check in.not a good experience with this hotel

Booked a package trip to Roatan through Orbitz. 4/5 thru 4/15. It was a moderate to low end hotel so our expectations were modest. Upon arrival we learned the reception desk is rarely staffed, and no one there upon afternoon arrival. We were able to check in with the help of a very nice taxi guy and a security guard that tracked a guy down on the beach. Ten or fifteen minutes later he shows up and we're in. But then we found out there is no maid service or fresh towels/linens, TP, cleaning, garbage pick up, or anything else you may need. We purchased towels and essentials from a store nearby. We saw someone on the property two times over a 5 day period. Most days the office is closed and locked and no one on the property. The pool, if you can call it that, is disgustingly dirty. On day one we had no water as the pump apparently broke, then day 3 sewage blew up thru the shower drain, day 5 no hot water, and finally a really large sewage spill, blowing under presure everywhere in shower ....and we were on the top floor. There was no one on the property to report this to. I contacted Orbitz to notify of situation. The said they would call the business. After much of the day, they too were unable to contact, so we left the property as it was unlivable. Later in the day Orbitz said they finally got ahold of someone, but by that time we had left to find another room somewhere. None of what we experienced was noted on the Orbitz posting.

Hello, We are unsure why this reveiw was submittted, as we do keep security videos of the exterior grounds for our guest's safety and reviewing those tapes curing this guest stay, we can see that the pool is clean total days, that the maids are working total days, that this guest constantly goes to and fromthe office for additional towels. (Normally the maid leaves a certain count of towels per room and if a guest wishes more they can get additional at the office, which this guest constatly did). He says the office was never open but the videos show him going into and from the office many times. also the guest says there was a septic spill into his shower, however that is impossible as the hotel uses a environmental system for gray water separate from the spetic and toilet systems. Separate pipes completely]and not connected all all. As well, we have video of the main septic system being pumped and clean on maintenance just a bit before this guest arrival. So there could not have been a sewage bust. Also since we have security videos of the guest going in and out of the office getting extra fresh towels on many different days,(above and beyond what is left daily in his cabin), not sure why he would say that he had to purchase towels . That seems a bit ludricous. We are sorry that this guest decided to post untruths. We do have all security videos to back up our statements. We can only assume that the guest wanted to try to get his money back even if he stayed at the hotel with no word about any problems for at least 5 days. And then he did ask for a refund, of couse. To stay and not pay anything. We are sorry that this guest decided to act this way. We have so many wonderful repeat guests that come and stay with us over and over again at the beautiful beach! We always want our guests happy!!! and are ready to solve any issues that may come up!

We were excited to be there. It was difficult as the staff speaks no English. That is hard where there were all English speaking people there. We had issues with the water-no cold for 3 days and no hot for the next 2 days. It was nice to be right on the beach though. I am not sure I would go there again. We had our most help from Eddie WG does not even work for the hotel. He made the time there good.

Some of the buildings are under renovation but this was not disclosed prior to booking. The place is a dump. furniture, bedding, the grounds , the pool, amenities and service are all bad. This is by far the worst hotel I've ever stayed at

Coconut Tree is a small family owned cabin hotel, that is more rustic than other much higher priced hotels, however, we do have many guests that return back every year for the pricing and the location. We have had no complaints before about the pool and grounds and bedding before, so we will take note of that. We hope you had a good trip otherwise on the beautiful beach of West Bay.

Right by the beach. West Bay is a great beach. Children also enjoyed pool. Had a microwave, fridge, stove, dishes, nice deck for relaxing and eating breakfast, lunch and dinner, close to George's Place, a great Honduran restaurant. We had a wonderful time and would live to come back.

This was a bait and switch- booked ay in every hotels- said they had no rooms so took me to their other site- which was seedy and unsafe. Filthy rooms, BLOOD on the pillow case, tattoo parlor attached to the hotel.

Hello, and thank you for your comments. We are sorry that you did not like your stay. We did have the cabin the Rockhouse One Bedroom that you reserved available for you. However, you had told the manager you wished something smaller. The hotel had no other smaller rooms or cabins at West Bay. The manager had said the only other smaller cabin would be at the West End location, so you agreed that you wished to be moved there. There was no bait and switch, we are sorry you feel that way. The actual cabin you booked was reserved and held for you, and you wished to be changed to a smaller cabin. The West End location is a totally different location than West Bay beach location. Many people prefer West End as there are more restaurants and bars open and a bigger selection of activities, while the West Bay beach location is the laid back beach location, no little town. We hope that you can come again and I would suggest reserving the West Bay cabin with king bed, or one of the newer ones with 2 double beds. Both have small full kitchenettes, deck, AC, and the swimming pool is very nice at West Bay. Thank you

The hotel is very close to the beach. It has a swimming pool and rooms are quiete comfy. In the web site it said that check in starts at 8 am. When I arrived there at 9 am, my room was not ready. They said check in at the reception starts at 8 am but the room check in is at 3 pm. I think the property should specify and change it on their website. Because I chose it for specific reason of early check in, but was very disappointed when it didn’t happen.

No notification about scheduled power outages, let tp run out, toilet tank flush mechanism broke so I left the lid off and a piece of the broken stuff completely visible and the “maid” simply put the lid back on the tank (backwards I might add). So I fixed it myself. Fridge was not plugged in, etc. it was clean but way overpriced.

Great place to stay and enjoy the beach
What a great place! Pool deck is right on the beach. Cabin is a very short stroll to the beach, and the beach at West Bay is absolutely unreal.

They do try to keep the place clean but unfortunately the cabins are a bit outdated at least in our opinion, so we couldn't really enjoy the terrace or most of the things the cabin has to offer. In the seven days we were there, they clean the place about 5 times, still we found unwanted little visitors roaming around, which is a shame because it has the potential to be an exiting, lay back, chilling place. And the driver was very late at picking us up in more than one occasion so we ended up going with another driver when we needed to go outside West Bay.

Hotel was Terrible, very dirty
Not able to use kitchen, 1 fork, 2 spoons for a group of 5, 3(again for a group of 5) towels that looked like at one point were white. Lots of cockroaches... no Light in room, broken light bulbs that we asked to replace and nobody EVER came to replace for us, had to use our cell phones to be able to see in the room.. bathroom was the worst, leaking water from toilet, shower curtin smelled terrible, No privacy at all in shower, a piece of cardboard was covering half of the window for privacy, this made me cry so much and the worst is that all that we talk about our Family Vacation it's how horrible our room was. The garbage was burned behind our room.

We are very sorry for your experience. Our primary manager was out due to family medical problem. Had we known sooner, which is not your fault, we could have had the West End manager come to assist you or change your room. We certainly apologize for your inconvenience and issues. If you wish to book again, we will be happy to make sure your room is equipped, and that repairs are made as needed for you and can offer you a big discount for another stay. Thank you for your patience and understanding. We will try to correct these problems immediately

i pay for 2 rooms and they give 1 room they dont clean the room i stay for 4 day only one day clean the room

From the moment that we arrived at Coconut Tree West Bay, we were greeted by Vincent, who runs the resort, and treated so very well. Every need was met. The people there were always available and truly helpful. Everything was spotless. The structures were built from the materials from the island, with a rather primitive nature. The view from our cabin was breathtaking. It was an incredible experience. I would highly recommend the resort to anyone looking for authenticity and great service.
