"The Exeter Hotel met my expectations fully. Our room, though small, was comfortable. The breakfast was ample, varied and good. The attached Le Kock restaurant and Deig bakery enhance food choices and convenience. The bakery is fabulous.
Our location was convenient and within walking distance of many restaurants and the waterfront is across the street. Parking availability was good as well. I would stay there again."
"A super nice place, though a little far from the core of downtown. The 3 big grocery stores were super close by though (5 min walk) so that was amazing. The staff were very helpful and friendly during our entire stay. The room was super nice and I greatly appreciated the large space, storage options, and various amenities provided. It was nice to have a mini fridge and kettle too. The sink outside the bathroom was a bit different and surprisingly hard to get used to. The place was pretty clean overall. Personally wished the bed outlet socks were placed at a different spot. Also greatly enjoyed the few board games they had in their lobby too."
"The staff here were really friendly and helpful, and the breakfast and spa were both great. There were definitely parts of the stay we enjoyed.
That said, overall the hotel felt more like a 3-star experience than what we were expecting for the price. We paid extra for the “upgraded” rooms, but they still felt a bit rough around the edges and not especially updated.
The biggest downside was the construction happening directly outside our room basically all day. It was really loud, and we were surprised there wasn’t any heads up about it before arriving. You could even hear the construction noise from the spa, which took away from the whole relaxing atmosphere.
The location also wasn’t our favourite. It’s a bit farther from the city centre, and the main street nearby is mostly tourist souvenir shops.
Overall, not a bad stay, and the staff were genuinely lovely, but it didn’t quite feel worth the price for us."
"Overall, we had a good stay here. The hotel was very clean, the bathrooms were nice and modern, and the common areas were spacious, comfortable, and well maintained. The rooms themselves were definitely on the smaller side — more of a “just enough space for your things and a place to sleep” setup — but that honestly worked fine for us since we were out exploring Reykjavík most of the day anyway.
The continental breakfast was really great and ended up being one of the highlights of the stay with plenty of good options before heading out for the day.
The only real downside was parking. The parking garage is very limited, and if you manage to snag a spot, consider yourself lucky. If you’re out exploring Reykjavík all day and come back later in the evening, finding parking can definitely become stressful. Aside from that, though, the stay itself was clean, comfortable, and convenient."
"Here’s a more polished, slightly posh-British version with that warm, gracious travel-review tone:
I rather embarrassingly managed to book my stay for the wrong day and only realised my mistake upon arriving at the hotel. The front desk staff could not have been more kind or accommodating. Although the hotel was unfortunately fully booked, they happily stored my luggage while I worked out an alternative plan, and even offered use of the shower should I decide to head straight to the airport.
Sadly, because the booking had been made through Hotels.com, neither they nor the hotel were able to cancel or amend the reservation. Nonetheless, the receptionist went above and beyond — she even contacted a guest who had not yet arrived, as there was one remaining reserved room, to see whether they still intended to check in.
The level of service at CityHub Reykjavik was simply sublime. I stayed here previously and found it wonderfully comfortable, and this experience only reinforced my impression. Exceptional hospitality and genuinely lovely people.
A tiny lapse in my planning; a masterclass in customer service."
"We had a wonderful stay at the Hotel Saga Reykjavik. We felt welcome from the time we checked in until our departure. The daily breakfast was also a fantastic start to our day.
The room was very comfortable and bathroom amazing.
Our only suggestion and very minor detail would be to allow guests to turn the temperature down further than the air conditioning allowed to a preferred comfort level as we found the room quite warm at night even with the window slightly open being cold outside."
"The hotel was clean and modern with an excellent breakfast buffet. Staff were helpful with questions and reserving taxi service. Loved the location near shops and sights,…..and especially the bus stop right outside our door useful when flybus dropped us off from airport, and for excursion pickups/dropoffs"
"The hotel is next to all the shops, restaurants and the port where all the water excursions take place. The staff is amazing!!!! They're willing to help with anything. This is the place to stay if you want to be in the center of everything."
