"This property is located two blocks from the zócalo. Something that was different with this hotel was that they kept the front doors locked at all times and one has to be ring a doorbell so that someone could unlock the door to let you in. The staff was very helpful and kept our luggage prior to check-in and after check-out. One member recommended a tour company which we thoroughly enjoyed. The property, like the entire town, was kept very clean One minor issue was that our room overlooked a courtyard, and people's conversations and laughter could be heard in our room. The windows should be replaced with soundproof windows. Until then, I recommend earplugs."

City Centro by Marriott Oaxaca

"A couple things to know about this hotel: Despite the name, "City Centro" is nowhere near the city centre. Jalatlaco is a great walkable neighbourhood with great shops and restaurants, and a great place to stay, but it's about a 30 minute walk to the actual city centre. Most of the rooms don't face the outside, they face tiny little courtyards, so you are essentially looking directly into your neighbour's room. Everyone keeps their blinds closed because of this. They only have bar soap, no liquid bath soap, which I was surprised by for a North American Marriott. No coffee machine in the room, but lots of places for coffee close by. Overall, great hotel, very aesthetic, relaxing Oaxaca vibes, we had dinner by the pool and the food was great, and great neighbourhood. Just a few things to be aware of."

"Beautiful little spot in a highly walkable area for shops, cafes, restaurants. They give you a code to enter the building and your suite at time of check in as there was no actual reception desk. Two flights of stairs. No elevator. I think she was a cleaning lady who helped me to my room and made sure my code worked. It did not, so she contacted someone to reset it and give me the new code promptly. Not sure what I would have done without her! Otherwise lovely, clean room that I would stay in again if I were to come back : )"
