Learn more about Radomyshl

Plan your trip to Radomyshl and take advantage of the sights and activities in the area.

The castle in the form as in the photo was rebuilt for four years from 2007 to 2011. The construction was based on the old mill, but earlier on the site of the mill was the first Papyrnya (paper mill) in the central part of Ukraine. It was built by monks in 1612. The founder was Archimandrite Elisey Pletenetsky. It was at the Radomyshlennaya Papirni that the first book, The Book of Hours, was published in Kiev. The monks very carefully approached the choice of the construction site of the factory. At that time, such buildings were seized, but the Papyrus proudly survived. It was built as a powerful defensive structure on a granite rock. This prevented a kind of undermining. Of great importance was the source of drinking water, which hit directly from the cliff inside the building. For this reason, the defenders could remain under siege for a long time.
