Such a beautiful place with very friendly and knowledgeable staff. Our every need was attended to. The grounds are delightful, full of nature’s treasures. A place to retreat and relax! The cabanas are well appointed. Davin, Mona, Vincent, Cordelia, Sarah, Steven, and the rest of the staff are all people I hope to see again!
Lovely setting and equally lovely people. Birds galore and Steve, the resident bird expert, is a kind and knowledgeable guide to the wonders of the jungle, as well to the local Mayan culture.
Wow! Where to start? This Lodge was such a Gem to have discovered. Beautiful grounds, amazing staff who take the time to aid in any way you didn’t even know you wished for. So sharing of knowledge of their lovely grounds or surrounding areas when asked. My lodging was Devine as well!
It was a beautiful experience. You can book lots of excursions, like chocolate making, spice farm, and a day at the falls also Maya ruins. It offers a bird watching paradise, I saw so many beautiful colourful birds. It boasts 250 different bird species, when the total country has 600 different species so that was a pleasant surprise.
The overall cleanliness of the place on a whole was top notch, didn't realize there was no tv and wifi didn't work in room but i realized this was a blessing as our family had the best time we've had in years with our teenagers playing boardgames talking and getting back to connecting with each other as we did when they were kids we will definitely be returning absolutely 💯 ❤️
We booked this place for one night last minute. It was fantastic. Our other nights’ accommodations had been modest, more DIY places. This place is not DIY. They are there to carry your stuff and bring your requests and they really don’t take no for an answer. (It was great; this is NOT a complaint. My friend and I are usually staying in some shack, happily, where we have to drag all of our wet clothes in and dry them on the window sill. This is not that type of place.)
We had dinner brought to our room because we were exhausted from the day. The orange ginger sorbet was my favorite part.
Breakfast was excellent. They sent us off with maps and directions and to-go food wrapped in foil.
I would advise packing some bug spray. The natural thatch roofs are so cool. But a few of the bugs are smarter than the roof. We sprayed our sheets and outer blankets down and did fine.
Would absolutely stay here again and I will be in-person reviewing this place to anyone coming to Belize that wants my opinion.
Beautiful natural resort, secluded, quiet, in a very natural area. Don't book this hotel for night life, book it to immerse yourself in a tropical environment. A hummingbird greets you at the office door, there is a swimming pool to relax in after a day of ruins exploring or walking in the bush.
No air conditioning in the rooms with an outside temperature at 39 Celsius during the day and 29 at night. This was not well reflected when booking. I have to cancel one nigh, however the hotel took two nights from my card, saying that Expedia is the one to refund me.
This looks like a scam and unfair. That was the first I was booking with Expedia, but I am disappointed.
We've stayed in places all over the world and the staff at TRL are all simply the kindest we've met. Maybe it's a sort of Mayan sensibility, but there is a gentleness that begins with a proactive welcome and extends throughout the stay. Servers, bartenders, room attendants, front desk....everyone is kind and helpful, yet completely unobtrusive as well. The surroundings are gorgeous too, enhancing the peacefulness one feels as soon as you arrive.
Big Falls Lodge is in a magical setting nestled amongst the forest and next to the river.
The staff did a great job of making us welcome we will definitely stay there again.
We also plan on recommending the Lodge to our friends.
Nice cabin in a beautiful setting. River tubing and canoeing on site. Attentive service. The proprietor can make arrangements for local cultural activities within the Mayan Village. The only downside was the beds. The mattresses where sagging so badly that the last night we chose to sleep on the floor!
