The location was great, and the staff was very friendly and helpful. We had a couple issues with the our room, mostly that the shower didn’t drain and would overflow onto the bathroom floor within minutes. It was a bummer to have an upgraded room with the pool, and be dealing with a silly issue like that.

Awesome hotel! The staff were wonderful and the room was well appointed! Loved the big towels and comfy robes. The bed was a little firm for my preference. The hot spring pool is amazing. Spent hours there relaxing and taking advantage of the sauna and Turkish bath as well. I used the gym twice and had no problems, though one of the treadmills wasn’t working. Would definitely come back!

The staff was super attentive. We had a room with a plunge pool and it was very nice to have some personal relaxation space. The location is really convenient.

The water features where amazing. The facility was beautiful, but a bit rough in some of the rooms from what appeared to be water damage.The staff was wonderful and genuinely interested in enhancing your stay. Joao helped us prepare a Cozido, where we placed food in a large pot that we later transported to the inground ovens heated by the volcano. It was delicious. Very memorable.

The place is beautiful, everyone was helpful and accommodating. The thermal spa was a great bonus during our stay and the restaurant is very pretty and relaxing and the breakfast buffet was great.

Overall a really nice hotel. Staff were super friendly and helpful. The spa facilities were really good and the pools were amazing. My only gripe would be that, for the price, the rooms could do with a bit of TLC. There were a few cracks here and there and our room was a bit damp. Also the coffee served in the bar was just Nespresso pods, which is such a shame in Portugal where the coffee is generally so good!

Best Hotel Stay
This was the best hotel stay my husband and I have ever had. The staff went out of their way to make everyone comfortable. We were here for our honeymoon and they made such a big deal for us that we felt like celebrities. Great place to stay.

Amazing property. The staff was great and very helpful. Such a cool experience. Breakfast was fantastic. The only negative we found was the cost of dinner and drinks. While they were exceptional the area surrounding the hotel was not really up to par for the prices they were charging at the hotel.

This is the best hotel in Furnas. Amazing service and attention to detail. The thermal pools, sauna and Turkish bath are amazing. The breakfast buffet is really amazing and plentiful. You can create your own tea, they have assorted milks, fresh juice and coffee. They have fresh options for all diets. The vibe of this hotel is unmatched. We had the best massage, scrub and facial at the spa and loved the relaxed out of the way amenities. This place makes you feel like you are in a luxurious garden get away.

Unlike the Octant Ponta Delgada, the spa was much larger, nicer and did not require reservations. The staff was very pleasant and helpful. The only issue was our room, 120, was right next to the road and traffic noise was annoying. Ask to not be placed there.

Amazing thermal pool
This hotel used to be a public hospital which was converted into a hotel. With what they had to work with, they did an amazing job! However, be aware that the rooms are very small. The service was impeccable. The staff was always available to help. The only reason to stay here is the large thermal pool. At $300 (US Dollars) one could go elsewhere. But if you want to use the pool, this is very appropriate. Breakfast was AMAZING !!! Dinner was not so good. The location was ideal.

The hotel pools incorporate the natural iron water from surrounding hot springs - it was exceptional and definitely worth experiencing. Beautiful hotel and great breakfast. A very special place.

Excellent spot in Furnas. You get use of the thermal pools and sauna/turkish bath included. Select the terrace room with own pool. Food was excellent.

Love Furnas
Every person we met at the hotel and on the island was incredibly nice and helpful, all spoke at least some English with was very helpful. The hotel needs a facelift, the carpet is gross, but I loved the Turkish baths and the food and the staff. Rooms are small, but comfortable. This hotel is not of the same caliber of the other Octant hotels, they need to show it some love.

Almost Perfect
The hotel and location were great. We had only a couple issues during our 2 night stay. The breakfast service was pretty non-existent; there were few staff around making it a real "self-service" experience. We felt bad flagging down the busy host/waiter for an espresso or eggs to order. A week before check-in, we received an email that there was significant construction underway so they downgraded us from our terrace rooms. The glass half-full side to this is that we did receive compensation, and we never heard any noise (granted we were there on a Friday afternoon with a Sunday morning check-out). The spa services were very nice - the only negative is that we were presented with bills immediately following our treatments. The spa should confirm type of treatment and cost prior to the service and request payment then instead of afterwards when you don't have eyeglasses handy nor are in the mood to be brought back to reality so soon. The indoor and outdoor pools were wonderful - the attendants there were helpful and friendly. Having just come from a lovely property with excellent service in Ponta Delgada, we had some expectations. All in all, I would highly recommend. Furnas is an amazing place, and the Octant Furnas is an ideal place to stay.

Our stay at the Furnas Boutique Hotel (now Octant Hotel) was simply delightful. The hotel installations and services are great. The gym, pools, spa, restaurant, bar and rooms are all of excellent quality. However, what really makes this hotel a truly special place is its staff. They are cordial, professional and kind people that will readily go out of their way to help and offer you the best experience possible. We loved every single minute that we spent at this hotel and will not hesitate to recommend it to family and friends. We hope to be able to return soon. Simply a magical place.

What an incredible place.
Amazing Amazing Amazing place! Beautiful and service is tops. The GM and entertainment services are some of the best I have ever come around. Beautiful property. Great restaurant. Excellent Service
It was very relaxing. Love the thermal pool because it was opened 24/7. All the staff were very happy to assist you. Breakfast buffet opens from 7:00 to 11:00 am, however if you miss it, you could order from menu which would be free as breakfast is included.

Absolutely incredible! I arrived on a red eye and spent my first morning in Sao Miguel enjoying their thermal pools, spa services and friendly hospitality. If you’re considering a trip and want your first day of vacation to be relaxing - definitely stay here! My room wasn’t ready, but they allowed me to use the facilities prior to checking in.

Best hotel stay in Sao Miguel!
The employees are fantastic!!! Couldn't say enough postive things about everyone who helped us. The breakfast is incredible, more than enough to choose from, something for everyone. The pools are wonderful, there are saunas and a gym. They really go above and beyond to make your stay remarkable and comfortable. This is a must not miss hotel!

Wonderful Hideaway in the Hills
This hotel is fantastic. The service of the hotel staff was impeccable, and super accommodating. We visited in November and it wasn’t too crowded. Pool facilities are very nice and chic, although the water could have been hotter. The brunch was really great! and the food in the restaurant was decent, however extremely overpriced for Sao Miguel. You’re basically paying NYC prices here for food ($22 for a burger). The service in the restaurant needs some serious work. We had reservations for dinner on 2 nights. One night we waited 15 mins before a server even showed up at our table w menus. Servers appear to be running the kitchen, doing dishes, stocking the bar - rather than serving customers. They could benefit from some specialization and prioritization.
